Also make sure that you pulled the buttonholer lever down and pushed it back (it's on the left side of the presser foot) ... the machine won't make the forward and backward motions to form the buttonhole without it.

Which model old style cam type buttonhole attachment from Singer will fit on the Bernina 807 minimatic machine that is an equivalent to the singer featherweight that I can make keyhole buttonholes.

In my earlier response, you need a shank that is made for your Bernina 807 and Berninas made in that era. Only "Old Style" Bernina presser feet and adapters will fit your machine. No other brand will work, not Singer, not Janome, not Brother, nothing but Bernina Old Style. There are several Bernina old style presser feet. Look for presser feet with the number printed in black ink or presser feet that have the number stamped into the metal. Do not buy a Bernina presser foot with red numbers--will fit only newer Bernina machines.

If you want to use the Singer buttonholer attachment, it needs to be for a straight shank machine. You will need to have a Bernina shank adapter for your machine.
Bernina Presser Feet (down at the bottom of the page, click on the blue text that says "Bernina Shank Adapter" On the next page, scroll down to the last two items that indicate they are "Old Style." The first Old Style item is the shank adapter you would need to attach the Singer buttonholer attachment to your machine. (Am assuming it will work, no guarantees!) If it doesn't work, then you will probably not be able to use the Singer buttonholer with your Bernina machine.
This shank adapter would fit your machine:

If you are looking for a snap-on adapter, it needs to state that it will work with a Bernina Old Style machine, ie the old Record machines (930 Record, 830 Record, 730 Record, 707, 807 Mini, 630 Record, and 530 Record--or in other words, Berninas manufactured prior to probably 1996).

Bernina Presser Feet (down at the bottom of the page, click on the blue text that says "Bernina Shank Adapter" On the next page, scroll down to the last two items that indicate they are "Old Style." If you are looking for the snap-on, go to the very last item on the page (Old Style). This will fit your machine. Remember, if it says Old Style, it should work on your machine.

This snap-on shank will fit your machine:

This presser foot will fit your machine:

This is an entire kit of snap-on feet with shank (included) that will work on your machine:

Here is a kit of snap-on feet with shank (included) as well as the buttonhole attachment you were asking about:

Although, I believe you will be able to make only straight buttonholes with this buttonhole attachment.

Hope this helps.

Need instructions for Singer buttonhole attachment 103233.

I found a manual for several Singer Buttonholers here: http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-sewing-machine-manuals.html . I'm not sure of the part number for the Professional Buttonholer Model, which looks like the one for my Singer Touch & Sew. Mine is part #161829 (if I read the box correctly).

I hope these help.

My buttonholer does 1 side then either stick at the top or stops short of the end. The shop suggests it is because the needle is not a Singer one. Could this be true?

No, they're coping out, probably because they don't have the answer. Singer has perpetrated this "myth" that only their needles work, and only their bobbins work, and both of them are false. It's kind of interesting, because Singer only makes ball point and sharps in limited sizes--no stretch, metallic, embroidery, jeans, or leather needles.

There is a widely quoted statement that their needles are slightly longer, and/or the eye is slightly different, and I have tested this extensively and both statements are false. Needles from any manufacturer differ in length according to their size--#9s for instance, are slightly shorter than #11s.

Just to pin them down, why don't you purchase their needles and give it a try? That will at least prove them wrong.

Buttonholer on Singer 2639 sewing straight ahead

set you machine for "zigzag" then: try your buttonholer again.
Also; the thread tension can be adjusted by a small screw in the side of the bobbin for the bottom loop of the stich or, the tensioner on the side of the machine head for the top loop

Auto buttonholer problem singer 2662

You do need to adjust your stitch length to get the satin stitch look. Also, some of the auto buttonholers require you to reset the lever after each buttonhole to restart it.
