Our tv all of a sudden just shuts off. It seems to do it late in the evening after it has been on for 5 or 6 hours. We can turn it right back on but sometimes it will last only a few minutes. For instance, last night it went off at 10:42 pm and then at 11:23, 11:27, 11:41, 11:48, 11:51, 11:55, 11:56, 12am and then every 2 to 3 minutes after that until TV was turned off at 12:26. As you can see it is a puzzle, can you help?

When the TV detects an issue (and this one sounds power releated), it will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash. I would try connecting the TV to an another wall outlet and check if that helps. If the TV is plugged into a Power Strip or Surge Protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the TV. If this doesn't resolve your issue, I would also try a power reset on the TV to check if that helps to resolve the issue. To Reset the TV, disconnect the power cord for a short period of time (approximately 1 minute), then reconnect the power cord and power on the TV. This should resolve the issue. - If not, i'd reccomend contacting sony eservice via this link - https://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do

Hope this helps - good luck!!

Powers off after an hour or 2

if the second you moved the board it powered off would really make it sound like a cold solder joint or loose solder connection
they are hard to find, take the board and tip it so you can see it and
move a plastic handle of screw driver over the solder joints while the set is UNPLUGGED and look for and old discolored solder joints and any hair line cracks you can even flex the board to see if you can find it... look very close it will be hard to spot.

Sony projection tv HELP!!

Hi,

Initially, let us try a simple one; flick/snap with your finger nails any and all of the buttons on the front control panel of the TV unit. The ides is to unstuck any of the buttons. They maybe in a pressed position. Incidentally, any sudden change in the weather/temperature? Any rain lately? Condensation, dampness, humidity maybe playing with the rubber pads of the controls or with the electronics inside.

Alternately, you can try the hard reset; unplug from the mains for an extended period of time, say an hour or more.

Should none be corrective, pls post back the exact model number.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

No video input -- all ports -- for JVC LT-37X688

JVC may allow warranty exception or some accomodation for 15 days out. You have 2 seperate issues

1. White lines spreading is probably a video process problem. I think this TV has 3 Boards inside. Middle one is most likely suspect followed by the one on the Right

2. HDMI input not working is because they were turned OFF. JVC TV's have a sensor that will shut off the HDMI if the TV's back cover is removed. This must be reset in the Service Menu.

Power button Flashes

For the first one, please list the model number and count the blinks. Also, can you please post each problem separately. It will get too confusing trying to address 3 sets with different but similar problems.
Thanks,
Dan

Viewsonic N3000w LCD TV randomly shuts off...

It seems that the power fails quite often with this one burning the Inverter boards transformers. OZ960G chip may not be broken, so try getting a new power from somewhere. Measure the transformers. suppose to be somewhat 5 ohms. tolerance is +-1.5 ohm. of more, replace.
