Question about InFocus X1 Multimedia Projector
I have an Infocus x1a Projector that is only three years old. I had to replace the first lamp after 1 year and about 1500hrs and now the projector will turn on but after about 30 to 45 seconds it shuts itself off - leaving me with three blinking red lights. The lamp only has 1200hrs on it and is two years old. Is there any way to open the projector up to see if there is dust inside the machine. We regularly clean the lamp but were wondering if there could be excess dust inside the machine which is making it shut down. We would like to try to fix the problem before the globe blows. Hope you can help. Thanks Julie
Most likely, if it is a thermal problem, your main cooling fan has quit or is stopping after a short period. The problem is, I've seen several of these do this, and in every case, it is not the fan that has failed, but the Controller Board. And that is a very expensive part.

There is a safety themostat inside the unit (looks like a silver button the approx size of a dime) that will shut the system down if you do not have adequate airflow. You can dis-assemble the projector by removing the screws on the bottom and rear of the housing and pressing in the plastic locking tabs inside the cover all around the perimeter but I would advise against this unless you are comfortable with delicate nature of the projector.
