Question about Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-Ray Player
I have a full samsung home theater setup. (TV, Receiver, bp-3600 blue-ray). All worked great until the most recent firmware update for the player which installed wirelessly (no problem with the install that I could see). Now the picture from the player keeps dropping out. When you switch the input to the player, you can hear the sound from the startup menus, or if the disk is playing, and occasionally you will get video but it keeps disappearing and "searching for signals" appears on the screen.
I tried all sorts of things, for a while if I tried connecting and reconnecting to the player through the various config menus it would suddenly work fine. (for awhile). I could play a disk though there might be one or two moments where the video disappeared for a second or two. (tolerable, but something that NEVER happened at all before the 'upgrade') Now no amount of messing around seems to get it to work. The DVD picture does appear now and then for a few seconds at a time.
One very interesting thing I just discovered... if I manage to navigate on a DVD menu to one of the DVD option sub-menus, the picture is completely stable. (it fails again as soon as I 'play' or go back to the main menu.) One difference about this submenu is that there is no sound with it, maybe that has something to do with it.
Any ideas much appreciated!
Its probably the update. Samsung has had a history of pushing updates then having to send a new one to fix the last one. Sites like AVS forums are full of good info. If there's alot of people having the same issue it helps you identify the culprit. In these situations there's only 2 possible culprits the update or the player itself. If its still under warranty take it back and confirm its the update. Or, wait for the fix.

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to
connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.
Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.
If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.
My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)
