Unlock theft code on 2001 chevy malibu

The security, theft, or passlock light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle.
This link may help you find ways to bypass this or fix it yourself.

01 chevy malibu won't start, security light blinks but after leaving the switch in the on position for ten minutes it will start is there a permanent solution to this?

I have the same problem on my 2001 malibu. Do a google search for 2001 Malibu Passlock malfunction. You have to have the passlock system replaced, although I've seen many forums where people have had it replaced only to have it malfunction again because Chevy never made a new passlock that does not malfunction for older Malibus. Also, if you get a remote car starter I've heard this will disable the passlock therefore removing the issue of it malfunctioning so you would not have to worry about it not starting.

Hi I own A 98 Chevy Malibu, my ignition locked n i had to put a new ignition switch in, well now my cars tellin me Something Theft Service. Im wonder what I need to do? Iv unhooked battery for hours ect...

You need to reset the theft system. To do this, try to start it. It should start and die. Then after it dies and the theft light is flashing, leave the key on for 10 minutes. After 10 min, the theft light should go out. After the theft light goes out, turn off the key. Count to 5, then restart it. Then it should work.

My 2005 chevy malibu classic will not start i have everything checked out also my theft system light is on constantly

all gm vehicles from 97-2005 have a theft system called the passlock system. (how to deactivate system on chevy malibu) turn key on engine off, let it stay on for at least 10 minutes, then turn ignition off, take out key from ignition switch. after 1 minute start the car. you can also go to tubesound.com to disable system for good. --tubesound.com/passlocksystem. ( just type in the problem when page comes up ). have a good day!! vehicle will not start with system blinking. it thinks its being stolen.

2003 chevy malibu won't start and seems to be with the fuel pump

first access the ignition switch through the center part of the dash where the radio and climate control are. then locate a thin yellow wire attached to the ignition switch. start your car. then cut the wire. varify the car starts again then tape up the wire you cut put everything back together and there you go.

My 2001 chevy malibu ls v6cranks,starts up but right after, right after dies like somethings shutting it down. radio was locked from me disconnecting my battery without disconnecting the anti theft system....

Is the Security light flashing??? If so, the security system (passlock II) is ******** off the fuel because the car thinks it is being stolen. If the security light is flashing, leave the key in the "on" position for about 10 minutes and it will stop flashing. Then turn the car off and try to start like you normally would.

Malibu won't start

This sound different again, I am thinking, since there is a valve (controlled by on board theft system) to shut off the fuel that there is the problem area, but just dirt, you know, the usual stuff.
I do know that car runs very shortly if theft system kicks in, maybe it kicked in but valve does not quite close?
Make sure you do your 10 minute routine to disable the theft system
