If you are using a built in graphics card then thats probably where the lost memory is going.

Maybe one of the memory slot on your motherboard is faulty. Try testing each slot by placing one memory module on a slot and start your pc. If your pc made beeping sounds, that slot might be faulty. Do this on the other slots.
