The black on my Kodak ESP-3 has stopped working

The black print head nozzles maybe blocked.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent blocked print head nozzles. You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase a new printer.

My brand new ESP 5 will not print red letter on a

It seems to be a problem with the colour ink cartridge ,did you remove the protective tape that came with it?
you should return the colour cartridge and get it replaced or buy another one.
If that doesn't solve it then return the printer since it's under warranty.

Kodak ESP-7 won't print Word Art

This isn't a solution, but a workaround...

If you create your word art, you can right-click on it, and save it as a graphic. Reimport the graphic into Publisher and it should print (at least it did on mine).
