Question about Cuisinart DCC-450 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

I just bought Cuisinart DCC-450 and the power switch will not turn on -- if I switch it on, it will rock back to the off position as if spring loaded to stay off -- any ideas? I did't bother to keep the box, it never occurred to me such a simple appliance would not work right away!

There is a defect with your coffee maker. It uses a momentary switch, but is supposed to stay on for 30 minutes. I believe there is a common failure due to heat sensitivity of an IC on the board. I suspect this is a timer chip. See my other posting on this.

Use a multimeter with a continuity buzzer, put it across the contact points, when it is on the buzzer abound and when off no buzz should be heard, also a test light can be used.

Our Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffee maker has been turing off during the brew cycle. We just keep flipping the switch to the ON position but I have no clue why it would be doing this.

Might be a sign of a circuit failure, or that it's not getting the amount of electricity it needs. Does it run along side another power hungry appliance or device? Could also be moisture has entered a section it shouldn't and is shorting somehting ouit.

My cuisinart brew central, 8 yrs old and still going strong - until now, just turns off after brewing 1/2 pot of coffee. I can turn it back on easily by hitting the toggle swithch. Just started to do...

Hi, Eight years is unreal. I was going to suggest that the boiler elelment i s starting to fail, but i think it could be a thermal cut out which is positioned on the boiler. Thermal cutouts are connected to the main toggel switch. The thermal cutout turns of the power when activated. You can check it wity a meter (approx 12kOmhs). Id replace the thermal cut out anyway. They do ware out.

1) Doesn't turn on. 2) Can't remove base plate to diagnose.

I had the same problem.

There are 4 rubber "feet" that conceal additional phillips screws. These feet are easily removed by lightly pulling them out of the screw holes with needle nose pliers.

On my coffee maker, the problem was heat sensitivity with an IC marked "53A3P 512AAC". I was not able to find this IC. If I HEAT this part, the coffee maker will briefly work until the IC cools down.

I would be interested in either finding the board, or IC.

Hope this helps.

I got a Cuisinart coffee maker DCC 1400C for a wedding present, worked fine, then all of a sudden STOPPED. I did the self clean, and that worked fine, the brew setting doesn't. The water doesn't go...

Unplug for 20 minutes or longer to reset. Make sure the lid is on the caraffe, or the brew basket will be stuck in the closed position. If the water still won't go through, consider ordering a new brew basket, because yours might have a faulty spring.

My DCC-1200 won't turn on

I called Cuisinart. There is no way to fix it. If your coffee maker is still under warranty (3 years) they will replace it. Otherwise, its next stop is the landfill.
