Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You'll need to check for network connection settings on your thinkpad. You can do it by opening up the Network Connections window from the Control Panel, and choose Properties in the menu after right-clicking on your Local Area Connection. Now check for IP address configured over there, if no address and DNS server, gateway settings and ip are defined then you'll need to ask for these settings from your service provider. If you have these settings then please see this link for configuring the connection on your thinkpad--
Network Connections Setup

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

The wireless icon is orange. Do you know why??

Hi, 1. Unplug the power from the Modem to the Router 2. Plugin back the power into the Modem and wait 60 sec.. 3. Plugin back the power for the Router wait 60 sec.. 4. Plugin a lan cord from the router to the first wired PC 5. See if you can get on the internet 6. Login to the Router and see if the Connection to the WAN is started? 7. If not started then unplug the wired lan cable and reset the router wait 30 secs to 45 secs before unplug the power then plug the power in again. Its always show at the the monitor the " A network cable is unplugged".

If you are connecting to the Internet using a wireless connection and your LAN card in the computer does not have a LAN cable connecting it to a hub or router then you will get a message "A network cable is unplugged".
If you don't use a wireless connection and you only connect to the your network/Internet then the problem is either the LAN cable has come loose in the computer's LAN card or at the router or the LAN cable is faulty.

Ethernet not work

Check in the Device manager to see if all the devices are enable and working.
The one with a yellow ? against that device requires a driver installation.
Is the LAN device OK?
How do you intend to setup your LAN, is it for Internet access or a home network?
I need more information on your problem, together with error messages.

I have lan with internet connection via switch... but only one machine is working.. remaining machines r not woriking... it shows locan are network cable unplugged.. switch is working properly....

Check TCP/IP Properties and Advanced settings at each non-working PC (i.e.to obtain IP address automatically, DHCP is enabled, obtain DNS, etc) that the network cards are not disabled and also configured correctly. Also check "Internet Connection Sharing" options are correct. Check cables, link lights. Ping and that theres a reply to each address.

Wireless internet

There will be a lapse in network communications as your laptop switches from LAN to Wireless, presumming that you have a Wireless access point in the area with DHCP enabled. If it doesn't work at all when unplugged from the ethernet, you may want to verify that your Wireless is turned on, and connecting to your network using the Wireless Network Configurator included with windows xp and above
