I have to disagree with the dell expert. The side of the case slides open. Tere is a release latch on the back, and there also may be 2 screws you have to remove before being able to use the latch. Also do not use a vacum to get the dust out. A vaccum cleaner can create static. Use compressed air. To verify I am inserting a link from the Dell site as to how to open the 3000 case.

Lay the case on its side, push in the two long eliptacal buttons and lift the case open like a clamshell. If it feels really heavy in you hands, it may be upside down, you want the motherboard section on the floor, look at the output panel on the back of the computer for a reference.

Here is the link for the user/service manual...

The faceplate display on my JVC stereo has a lot of dust inside it. Can I disassemble the faceplate and clean the inside? Everything works great, it is just more of an irritant!!

Yes, you can take the faceplate apart and use air pressure or a photo lens brush to remove the dust. You probably won't get all of it off as the dust is attracted to that area due to the static build up. You can try using an antistatic spray on the lens to try to dampen down the issue longer.

Is there any fuse inside the KH624 power supply?

Typically, there are no fuses inside these devices. You'd think that there should be - but it's not the case. Most of the time, power supply units (PSU) begin to overheat and ever so slowly die. Replacement PSU have dropped in price - like everything else. Your best bet is to replace it and maintain it from here on in to ensure a long life.

PSU's overheat and fail because of dust. Lots of it. The fan inside blows air into the PSU case to help keep the component cool. Unfortunately, dust gets blown in at the same time - and slowly builds up on all surfaces and components. The dust build up acts as a thermal insulator that prevents the air from removing the heat. A PC on the floor will have a great deal more dust build up inside than if it were on a desk top. Oh, and the fans in the PC (not just the PSU) blow dust all over the motherboard components and expansion cards inside it, too. The most expensive components are the CPU and video card(s).

Move the PC to the desk and regularly clean the components that have fans on or near them ideally with a vacuum or if unable to vacuum - blow out with compressed air to keep them running reliably.

The 3 filters were very dirty - so i cleaned them . Is the something inside the unit that also needs cleaning??

Hello, it is also a good idea to check out the blower compartment for dust and vacuum if needed. If large amounts of dust build up on the blower wheel it can cause the unit to trip on the high limit switch due to low airflow.

Most of these devices have photoelectric sensors build-in, which tells the unit whether there is too much paper dust on the sensors, When there is too much paper dust covering the sensor, the device will report to the User that there is too much paper dust on the sensor, and the device will not function properly, due to the build up of paper dust.

Get a can of compressed air and gently spray inside the device, to remove the build up of paper dust,
