Question about Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 Notebook

I have a panasonic cf-51 with 40-gig drive. I want to upgrade the drive with something at least 160 gig. Do you have any drives available? What spec should I be looking for?

Basically, any EIDE interface hard drive will work, if you buy a new drive, just make sure to use the included software to boot the laptop up with in order to initialize the new disc and make it useable on your system.

Windows xp installion does not see my hard drive on Panasonic CF-74

Just a thought but are you using XP Pro SP2 or SP3?

In my experience, only XP Service Pack 3 will see your
Hard Disk Drive, not XP Service Pack 2.

Good Luck!

Fix BIOS on Dell Inspiron 531 Vista Home Basic 32-bit

The BIOS may require flashing when an update is available or when replacing the system board.

  1. Turn on the computer.

  2. Locate the BIOS update file for your computer at the Dell Support website at support.dell.com.

  3. Click Download Now to download the file.

  4. If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click Yes, I Accept this Agreement.

The File Download window appears.

  1. Click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.

The Save In window appears.

  1. Click the down arrow to view the Save In menu, select Desktop, and then click Save.

The file downloads to your desktop.

  1. Click Close when the Download Complete window appears.

The file icon appears on your desktop and is titled the same as the downloaded BIOS update file.

  1. Double-click the file icon on the desktop and follow the on-screen instructions.

Panasonic Toughbook won't load Windows XP CD

You can check to see if the hard drive is dislodged, but other than that I don't know what to tell you. If you know the drive is functioning correctly then your motherboard is probably dead.

I wish to upgrade the mainboard, what will work.

I wouldn't bother replacing the mother board. Just buy a new computer. If you replace the motherboard with something current you would have to replace the following as well.
  1. CPU
  2. RAM
  3. Hard drive
  4. Floppy would be out
This is the minimum you would have to replace. New computer is cheaper.List what you do mostly on the computer and budget and I can recommend a good computer for your use.

Hi there , i have an acer travelmate 6592 laptop , the original 80 gig hard drive crashed , and i dont have the recovery disc , the hidden partition wont re install either , i have bought a new 320 gig...

You cannot get the full 320Gb capacity because the BIOS can only support a maximum of 127Gb.
You only hope is a BIOS firmware upgrade that can support 320Gb. Check out the Acer WEB site to see if a BIOS upgrade will solve your problem.
OTHERWISE
Install a 127Gb hard drive in your Acer and put the 320Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive because it is not affected by the BIOS limitation.

Cf-18 toughbook

The BIOS may not support the larger drive at all; I suggest you look for a Toughbook forum and repost there and check Panasonic's site for a manual download and possibly a BIOS upgrade if the unit is equipped with a flash BIOS.
