Hi....

to change wireless channel of your 2wire 2701hg youjust need to access its default gateway 192.168.1.254 type it on your address bar using internet explorer and you'll see network at a glance page. click on home networking tab at the top and look for subtab written in blue click wireless settings. you'll seewireless name and under that you'llsee wireless channel you just need to pick the channel that you want to use...

Your wall filters may be plugged in wrong. Verify they are plugged in correctly. This is likely the problem.

SOURCE: I need information on how

Log into your router. Click on home network. Status at a glance box, click on edit settings under wireless settings. Under setting click enable SSID and Wireless network security. Your WEP key is on the side of your router. The number above the second bar code with brackets around it.

Hope this helps you.

To log on to your router type the routers ip address into the address bar. If you don't know it....click start....run...type cmd press enter....type ipconfig /all at command prompt...press enter... look for default gateway address.... type that number into the address bar of your browser.

Is the DWL-520 Wireless Adapter compatible with the 2701 HG modem

Hi,
The 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi networking standards are generally compatible. An 802.11b router / access point will work with 802.11g network adapters and vice versa.
There is no such conflict reported with the above devices. But as suggestion use an 802.11g wireless card with the Bell as it would give you better performance

Thanks for using Fixya

Try restoring it to factory defaults and start again with securing your network, document every change you make that way you can come back to it and see what change you made that might be affecting your internet access

RE: My posted. Connecting DSL/Router to DIR-628 internet router

Installing a router to work as the second one on a home networkrequires special configuration. Do the following on the second routerto ensure it (and the devices attached) function properly:1. Connect as local device or bridge - If connecting the second router via Ethernet cable, plug it into one of the LAN ports on the first router. If connecting the second router wirelessly, ensure the second router is set for client mode.Note that some home wireless routers do not support client mode; thesemust be connected by cable. Check your router documentation for detailson its client mode configuration support.

2. Check / change IP address - Most home network routers use a default IP addresssetting. Often, these default IP addresses will not work in a tworouter environment. Check the second router's IP address value andreset it if necessary to work within the valid address range of thefirst router (and to not conflict with any other device on the network).

3. Disable DHCP- To avoid IP address conflicts between all of the devices on the homenetwork, only one of your two routers should assign addresses via DHCP. All mainstream routers provide an option to disable DHCP as part of the router's configuration screens.

(My netgear router supports client mode. The 2wire supports bridged and router mode. My 2wire is the main router. I set up my netgear using my laptop. Once you change the address on the router.. You will only be able to directly access through the main router to the 2701.)

Configure your 2701 IP address to a static address in the 192.168.2.1 range and diable DHCP. Only 1 router can run the DHCP service. To disable Dhcp on the 2701.... log on to 2701> click on home network>advanced settings>uncheck enable DHCP>Next section is Public routed subinterface...Check enable and Aout Firewall Open>Input your main router address and mask>save config..

This worked with the Netgear router.. May not with your router. Good Luck! Hope this helps!
