I have a question...

Does the laptop recieve internet connection?

If so, go to your router and plug in another ethernet cord into the first, second, third slot and then plug the other end into your desktop's ethernet slot.

You would connect a laptop from Canada the same way as one from the US. You want to make sure the wireless card is turned on and check for wireless networks. Once you have found your network select it make sure you type the password correctly.

Does the older Dell have a wireless radio?

If not, you'll have to use an ethernet cable to the 2wire router or buy a wireless USB card for about $35 or less for the old Dell. I'm assuming you are running XP SP2 or higher system.

In order for you to make computer to wireless with your existing wireless router, first thing that you need here is a wireless adapter that will serve as a receiver for your computers to pick up the signal from your router.
Once you already have a wireless adapter on your computer you can now detect the signal of the router and connect to it and that should be fine after that.

I have a dell Vostro 200..I want to go wireless with a Airport, Just got a Mac with the airport, will this work?

The airport is just a receiver that picks up wireless signals.

If you want your computer to pick up wireless, you need a wireless
router, and a wireless card that goes into the computer so it can see the router and get the signals.

There are tons of wireless products, and it depends on the slots you have on which kind of wireless card you get.

I am having problems connecting to the internet on my desktop but fine on wireless laptop. Dell says I should check the router. Could the router be the problem and how do I determine that?

Well there are 2 other options to consider. The router is functioning somewhat at least, since the wireless laptop can pick up the signal. So ...

#1. Check the ethernet cable... kinks overtime can damage the wires within, try a new ethernet cable.

#2 In Device Manager are there any "!" or "?" or "X" near the Network Adapters?

(right click my computer, go to properties, Hardware, click Device Manager)

If so there may be a problem with the network interface card/ports. Could be hardware or driver related.

Trouble with Lynsky N router set up

To setup your router you will have to access it by opening your browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1, in the user name type admin, and in the password: admin. if this does not work leave the user name blank and type admin in the password slot. If this does not work reset the router by depressing the reset button on the back of the router for @ 10 seconds and then retry the options I just related to you.

To test it whether the signal is too weak or not, take your laptop closer to where the router is and try to connect that way. If it does connect then the wireless signal from the router is too weak in which case get a range expander or purchase a router with extended range.

Wirelss networking is intermittent or unavailable

on the asus in the tool bar right click the wireless icon then choose view wireless a netwrok should appear then choose connect
if no networks appear on same page click to refresh network list once you have a network then click to connect.
I think the problem is diue to interference as you said you live in an apartment.
You can get a better router system or have someone come in and configure the one you have and make it a secure connection with password
