Most likely it is more convenient to just replace the entire palmrest. The palmrest has to be taken off anyway to get to the touchpad and buttons. Palmrest assemblies go for around 25 bucks on Ebay.

Sounds like a faulty switch under the button. Have a look on ebay for a replacement.

Right side of the mouse pad doesnt work

Unfortunately your touchpad is damaged and will need to be replaced. Most likely this will mean replacing the entire bottom chasis of the unit.

Emachine E725 touchpad does not work

The eMachines E725 has a built in switch to toggle the touchpad on or off by the touch of a button. Look at the button to the left of the main power switch. You'll notice the icon looks like a hand touching a rectangle - or touchpad. if this button is lit up, the touchpad is turned off. simply press the button to toggle the touchpad back on. The light on the button should now be off.
It's that simple. I hope this helps.

Fix left click on built in mouse

If you're talking about the touchpad, then I'm afraid that no; it's not easily replaced.  The most probable thing that's happened is the microswitch underneath the button has worn/broken.  You not only have to pretty well completely dissassemble the keyboard part of your laptop, but it's a tricky job when you get there.

The best solution is to get an external USB mouse and use that.  It's a bit late to tell you this, but using an external mouse to take most of the wear is the best thing to do anyway...save the touchpad for when you have no other choice.

Thin and wide white lines on screen

Yes, your screen most likely is going bad, the only other reason for lines and distortion is a loose data cable that runs up the back of the lcd panel on the left side. For the touchpad, go to the control panel > Mouse > look at the top of the window and look for the device properties. open this tab and look for your touchpad listed. Highlight it and click on the settings button. Go through these settings and make sure that tapping is enabled. Even if it is, you may consider updating the drivers for the touchpad.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.

Touchpad button loose

I shouldnt think that opening it up is necessary. The button should click back in with a gentle nudge. Else it is broken and needs to be replaced. If you can take it out completely and examine it you will know if it is broken.
