Question about Apple iPod touch

1 Answer

I have a new itouch and I can't get on the internet. I click on Safari and get "operation could not be completed" etc. what do I do? I downloaded as instructed on the internet and everything appeared on the itouch and when I initally tried to connect it showed a box with locked and unlocked addresses but none of them would allow me to connect to wifi. Now I get the above message and i don't get the box showing the connections at all. Any help would be appreciated. Julie

I need to reinstall Safari for XP. I deleted (uninstalled Safari this morning and now need to reinstall it.

To Download Safari:
1) Go to
2) Click "Safari 5 Free Download"
3) Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Keep me up to date... etc."
4) Be sure the button labeled "Safari 5.0.4 for Windows XP, Vista or 7" is selected
5) Click the blue button labeled "Download Now"
6) On the popup window, click the button labeled "Save"
7) Navigate to your desktop in the new window and click "Save" once more

To Install Safari:
1) Double click the icon which reads "SafariSetup.exe" on your desktop
2) Windows XP MAY ask if you're sure you wish to run this program depending on your security settings. If you see this popup, click "Yes" or "Run".
3) Click "Next"
4) Click the button labeled "I accept the terms in the license agreement"
5) Click "Next"
6) Uncheck the checkbox labeled "Install Bonjour for Windows" unless you are absolutely sure you need this additional program.
7) Click "Install"
8) Click "Finish"

Safari is now installed on your machine. Keep in mind that deleting an icon from your desktop does not uninstall a program. If you accidentally delete your desktop icon, this can easily be replaced through the start menu.

Wont connect to internet

Looks more like a phone software error. Did you try upgrading the firmware?

Itouch connects to the internet everywhere except home

This is due to your router, not your iPod. I've had to reset the router several times in s row before I could connect to the internet. I'm not sure why the third time worked when the first two didn't. My suggestion is to keep trying repeatedly.

I would try reseting the router if it is yours that you are trying to get on. Then make sure all the setting inside the router are set to default. you can access these by typing or then admin admin. Your ipod touch should be set to default setting also (DHCP and HTTP Proxy off)

My wifi won't work on itouch

Hey, i had the same problem. I you already have a wifi connection and it still says, "Safari is not connected to internet" Goto settings. Click the blue arrow next to the wifi name, scroll all the way down and click renew lease. It should probably get the IP address right and you'll be good.

ITouch won't connect to internet

try this! If your iTouch says you are connected to your network but you can't surf and you've been able to connect in the have to reset your network connections on your iTouch.

Go to Settings
Go to General
Go down to Reset
Go to Reset Network Settings
It will ask for your iTouch Passcode...enter it
Then, hit the red "Reset Network Settings"
After that, go back to "Wi-Fi" in Settings...
...and connect to your network again. It might ask you for your WEP password, if it does, enter it.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS fields should now have entries in them.
Surf Away!!

Hope that works for you. It worked for me!!!
