Error Message: "Unable To Change"

Unable To Change. I have tried all the standard fixes to no avail. I don't even use the Fax! Can't make the message go away, printer won't work. Eek, where's the geek?

No help. I tried to follow your instructions, which seem to be related to fax messages of which I have none since I don't use the fax. I was able to press menu/set, 9,0, but 1 didn't seem to function. Even after resetting the original machines settings and disabling the fax, the error message persists.

I am afraid I don't know what you are asking me to do ... what is "ADF 3 sheets"?

  • PFPW Dec 18, 2007

O.K. I tried the ADF with 3 sheets of paper, and tried to copy ... won't print.

No to both your questions. What I have found is that when unplugged if I hold in the menu/set button while plugging back in I get a "Machine Error 4F" message.

Check for pieces of paper in ADF
any blockage in the unit anywhere
Then, disconnect the MFC from the power
source for several minutes
1. Press Menu/Set, 9, 0, 1.
2. If the MFC has no faxes, disconnect the MFC
from the power source for several minutes
and then reconnect it.
Check that all fax settiings are disabled
and there are no print files pending in
mimory shouldnt be but who knows

    1. Is there anything that cycles and
uses a lot of current on the same circuit as the
2.Have you had any power failures during operation
    of the unit recently

Appears that your settings aren't being saved
possibly corrupted memory is on-board memory
integrated or replaceable if removable try removing
    and re-seating.(use static safety precautions)If
room is carpeted discharge your hands to grounded part of mfc frame handle memory by edges don't touch terminals

    This is Brothers faxback number
    In USA only: 1-800-521-2846
If you have a computer with
fax or another fax machine try
that number 4F is probably a
fax error code I think there is
    some type of memory/microprocessor
problem (caused either by voltage spike or low voltage condition
caused by overlaod somewhere else maybe)
Check id on board memory can be removed and reseated
or if that is frequent type of problem (corrupt menory because of
    voltage supply problems

normally you will need to let the printer know that you have preformed any maintenance on it by clearing the error count after such an error occurs and is fixed it is normally listed under general or service options on the printer menu but you may need to look through the users manual

press menu then start bk copy then fourtimes arrow up. what error code does the machine display?

In case you have an error 50 you have to open the printer cover and to reinsert the encoder strip which is out of position into the ph. This occurs sometimes after a serious paper jam.

search error 50 for dcp 110, 115 or mfc 210 here. its the same procedure.

Error message print unable 50

the encoder strip which gives the printhead the position is out of place (error 50). You have to open the printer and reinsert the strip:

Stick a 1.5 inch tape onto the printhead cover where the strip runs thru. This will prevent this accident in future!
