Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Fridaire AC window unit about 3 mos old. It just would not work with the buttons, then we unplugged it to reset it, and now it will just beep when we plug it back up and push reset, then it turns off and will not come on at all. It looks like from the side the model number is: FAA087(5 or maybe a S )A ....I have called the number on it, and I get recordings and then to call a LONG distance number and no one to help. That was Thurs and we sure are hot!!! Can you help???

How long do you leave it unplugged for? try a couple of hours to let any memory voltage dissipate and clear memory, then retry, also does it have any troubleshooting ideas in the owners manual, possibly a certain way of steps to un glitch unit and make operational again

My window ac was leaking water and ran down wall and got the plug wet. we have tried drying it out with hairdryer but when we plug it in the reset button keeps switching. do i need a new ac or can i buy a...

It's hard to know which one needs replacing, without testing the outlet first. Unplug the AC unit and outlet in a lamp or some other electrical appliance to see if the outlet works as it should. If does function correctly, then the problem is in the AC unit. But, buying a new power cord will probably not solve the problem. More than likely, one of the circuits or sensors in the control panel got fried, when the water got into the outlet and shorted it out. That's why the reset button n the cord won't reset.
Depending on the age of the uni, you may want to consider having it repaired, rather than replacing it. But, if it's 5 years old or older, I'd opt for replacement.

Now, lets address what caused the problem. Either the drain hole in the drip pan was clogged and or the rear of the AC unit did have enough downward tilt. The general rule of thumb is 1/4" to 1/2" rear downward tilt. This allows the water collected in the drip pan to flow to the rear of the unit and drain away thru the drain hole. Whether you repair or replace the unit, keep this in mind.

I hope I was able to help you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Own a GE 29870GE1 telephone with digital answering machine. The digital part works but can't get a dial tone.

Hello,

Try unplugging the phone from the wall power outlet plug it back after like 3 minutes. Power on and see if you get a dial tone, if not, try reset the unit, once the unit is reset, the problem should be fix. Follow this steps to reset the unit,

Turn off the phone, remove the AC adapter, press and hold the page/call button that is on the phone and plug back your Ac adapter, this will fix the problem.

Take care.

LG AC compressor problem

Compressor may be locking up. Run capacitor may be weak or loose wire. Sounds like major voltage drop off as unit head pressure increases.

3: Hold down the RESUME button
4: Release RESUME after plugging in the AC Power cord.
5: Press the RESUME once within 5 seconds and release the RESUME .

7: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
8: Unplug AC Power Cord to set data.
Try this I found it doing a search on your machine, that foam was called a blotter, and it should work without it, good luck
