Re: Jamed tape

This happens often in my business. Sony DSR is the most delicate cassette compartment out there. It also sounds like the unit is in auto off mode(electronic proublems as well). Please for your sake take this unit to Sony or some one qualified to repair this. You should expect replacement of the compartment and what ever damage occured while removing the tape. Parts for these decks are not cheap, If you had taken it to a service person with the tape stuck inside the monitary damage would far less. The one good thing is this is a consumer unit, if it where a DSR 1500 two models up it would pro and they share parts price for repair x3 across the board.

Removed tape that jammed, replaced everything, how to clear code and get deck working again??

The deck should reset if the power cord is unpluged. On power up the deck should return to normal. If it does not then the condition that caused it could still be present or is now set up wrong. It is quite possible that the mode switch is in the wrong position and would need to be set up correctly. Unless you have done this before, you will probably need the service manual, as most VCR's are not set up in the eject mode!

Videotape dubbing deck dead

1. Check to see if a tape is jammed inside (see 284 Extract a Jammed Videotape).
2. Try changing the video input and/or output source. Many VCRs have two ways to receive and send a video signal (coaxial and video direct). If that works, try changing the cable for the other method to see whether you need a new cable.
3. Clean tape heads (see How to Clean VCR Heads).
4. Open VCR and inspect any belts that are accessible (see 284 Extract a Jammed Videotape). A drive belt may be broken or loose.

If tapes are getting stuck / enmeshed inside the machine, itis 90% probability) a mechanical problem. Change the Belts, clean all rollers, idlers, and braking pads.
I would suggest that you also replace the Capstan Pinch Roller.

How to remove a tape that is jammed in the vcr display showing HO2

I believe you might have a K-Deck model. If you enter "Panasonic K-Deck" into google you should find a loads of information including how to get a stuck tape out. If you can't post a message here and I can E-Mail it you.
HO2 on these decks means "Tape did not withdraw when unloading" the cause either the capstan motor, timing or mode switch.

No video out

Hi, All I get is a blue screen.  It does accept the tape, and I do get normal audio from the tape. I believe that I do get the words "play"  "fast", etc..., displayed on the t.v. screen  So I guess you could say there is that for a video signal - otherwise I would just get a static screen - I just get no video signal from the tape. Not sure what kind of soda (i.e. coke, pepsi, etc). Thanks again, Frank

Deck will not accept DV tape

most likely problem is a defective cassette housing. I've replaced about a dozen of these in AG-DV2500s.

Cleaning is a good first step. If cleaning the deck doesn't work, it may need a tape path alignment.

Audio Problem with Firewire

The input select switch on the front of the AJ-D230H needs to be in the "OPTION" position, not "LINE". That may help if all the other settings are correct. You will also have to make sure that you have selected the right codecs for the deck that you are using in the software. I am speaking as a Final Cut Pro user so only offer this as a suggestion as these are the things that work from out of Final Cut.

Good luck. It can be very frustrating, but awesome when it all comes together and works right!!!

Sony DSR-11 Will Not Recognize Timecode

I think you may have misconfigured something because the problem is not in your DSR-11 try connecting it to a monitor and you will see the time stamp and picture as proof of what I am saying. The problem I think is that your Mac is not processing the time stamp correctly. Try this link first it helped me: Remember follow the instructions ezactly:

Putting main deck line cover back on inside vcr

this sounds like the carriage tray, it's the metal plate that the vcr slides in and out. It should have a door on the front side and it may have at least 2 screws and sometimes four. The only problem is aligning up the tray to be exact. in the power on mode the vcr tray should be pushed outward like the tape is sticking partly out of set.
