Question about Nikon D40x Digital Camera

1 Answer

Photo information appearing on top of image

Hi. I have had my Nikon d40x for less than a week. I am loving it, until today. I have always been able to view an image, after taking it. However, as of today, the information about the pictures, stored on the camera, appears superimposed on top of each image. THe only way to get rid of it, is to zoom in on it. That seems illogical.

I have no idea how the settings changed, and therefore, I don't know how to undo whatever was done.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the information about a picture, so I can see the image again? Thank you!

Picture does not appear on the monitor, I must look through the view finder to see what I,m pointing at to photograph

The D40x operates as SLRs have operated for half a century, offering you an optical viewfinder with which to frame and compose your picture. The LCD is for menus, shooting information, and reviewing.

Nikon introduced the live view feature, which allows you to hold your camera so it wobbles at arms' length, with the D3 and D300, released half a year after the D40x.

While almost all current DSLRs have this capability, it was not so common five years ago when the D40x was introduced.

I would like to have the date print on my pictures, can you help me.The date shows on the camera

Hi kcrdnl264,

The camera records the date/time with the image file but will not imprint it over the image. That's done when you print the picture. Consult your printer manual and/or the manual for the printing software.

1. If you simply want to see the date and time on the screen, press up/down while reviewing your pictures until you get the view you want.

2. If you want the date and time printed on the pictures, that needs to be done in whatever program you use to print. For example, Nikon ViewNX has a "Print Photo Information" check box in its Print dialog.

Note: The camera is not going to damage your pictures by imprinting date and time on any portion of the image. It will record that information (and a lot more), but its priority is on getting the image data.

Hope it helps.

Thank You for using Fixya.

Mottled bright pixels appear on images

It would be very useful to see an example image. If you have an online photo sharing page (e.g. in Flickr), could you provide a link for the image?

Otherwise, one can only guess. Try formating the memory card before using it
