portable, yes. Thanks for the reply.
WD Elements. From poking around the web it looks like the Abcel power supply (made in china) has caused many people similar problems.
I eventually got a reply from WD and they are sending a replacement - I'll have to wait and see if it shows up.

My external hard drive fails to spin

The hard drive needs a proper regulated power adapter for the hard drive to work.
If the hard drive is a 5.25 inch drive it requires 12 volts and 5 volts power supply.
If the hard drive is a 3.5 inch drive it requires a 5 volt power supply.

Dim green light on power supply blinking

If the Power supply LED dims and flickers its either your motherboard circuit has been cut or there is a short in the laptop. The AC adapter is not the cause.

Try this:
Remove the battery, then press power button to drain all the current, then re-install battery and plug to adapter.

If that doesn't work, then it's most likely the motherboard.

I have the Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 250GB External Hard Drive. I have moved and lost the power cord. I purchased the DYNEX 500ma Universal AC Adapter as a replacement. When I plug the...

I don't have a photo of the AC adapter, but if you look on it the Voltage and Amperage specifications are;

Input: 100-240VAC / 50~60Hz
Output: 12VDC / 2A

This means the Input power can be from 100 volts to 240 Volts AC, and at 50 to 60 Hertz

The Output power is 12 Volts DC at no more than 2 Amp's. (Amperes)

Asian Power Devices Inc. has a model DA-24B12 that fits these specs.
Also a Wattac AC adapter model number - BAO362Zl-8-A01 will work.

Otherwise just use a 12 Volt, 2 Amp power pack, with a positive on center contact, and a 2mm pin hole

I have a crunch p1500.1 amp and it turns on and lights up but no sound comes out of the subbs and the protect light isnt on

There a few different issues that could be troubling you.

1. The Amplifier's outputs are no longer working
- To test this, connect the negative probe of a digital multimeter (DMM) to the negative (-) terminal of the amps speaker output. Connect the positive probe of the DMM to the (+) terminal of the amps speaker output. The output terminals you are referencing should be the output to the same speaker. Set the DMM to AC Voltage/lowest setting. If you read AC voltage than the outputs are ok. If you show no reading then the outputs are bad. Stop here and get the amp repaired or use as a paperweight.

2. Check the RCA connections behind the radio. They may have come undone. If so, re-connect and dance for joy as you once again enjoy music in your car.

3. Confirm that your RCA connections to your amp are plugged into the INPUT and not OUTPUT or THROUGHPUT. If in the output or throughput then move to the input. refer to the last sentence in #2 above.

4. Your RCA connections/or RCA cables are bad. Use the above mentioned DMM to check for continuity in the RCA's to ensuyre they are in working condition. You can also use the DMM set to ACC voltage like in #1 above to check to see if voltage (speaker signal) is being sent to your amp.

5. Make sure the amplifier's gain setting is not turned all the way down. If so, adjust accordingly.

If none of these solve your issue then most likely your amp is beyond the do-it-yourself repairs.

Elements by WD, AC Adapter Failed

There are replacement models for this 5V/1.5A power supply that the AD6008 uses.

One of them is made by a company called "Asian Power Devices" [APD] and their model number for the replacement for this particular unit is: DA-30C01.

I've seen them for sale on www.amazon.com for around $25.00.

The adapter to my Western Digital Book does not respond

The monitor requires a adapter with a current output of 4 amps. but the Western Digital Book adapter can only supply 2 amps (half the current required by the monitor).
This means using the WD adapter on the monitor will stress this adapter beyond its capacity and continual use of this adapter on the monitor will cause it to fail and/or switch off if it has overload protection.
If you are having problems with the 2 amp adapter on the WD Book, then the power adapter could be faulty or it maybe OK when the adapter cools down.
I suggest you get a 12 volt 4 or more amps adapter for the monitor.
You may need an adapter for the WB book too if the adapter is faulty.

Battery charging

When you initially used the unit was it with the battery or not? If it was with the battery was the AC hooked up also? You need to remove the batteries from the equation to find the problem. Hook the camcorder directly to the AC unit and see what it does. Also you do not mention how you know that the AC unit has power at the lead. Checking with a DMM does not garantee it. I have seen units which have the correct voltage until you put a load on the AC adapter. At this point the AC adapter could be bad, the battery could have a memory or be bad or the input jack could have a bad solder joint. If you have a DMM and know how to use it check the AC adapter for proper output. If it checks OK you will have to assume that it does not have the problem I mentioned. I have only seen that one time. With no battery on the camcorder, plug the AC adapter in and try the unit. If it does not work you probably have a broken input jack. If you are good with tools, have jewelers screwdrivers, magnifying glasses, a steady hand and lots of patience remove the covers to expose the jack and repair the connection. This should solve your problem. If you are not capable of the repair you will need to find a good reputable repair facility to take care of this. Cost should be less than $100 US. Good luck.

15-inch Phillips LCD FlatTV

It could be the AC adapter. That is easy enough to check with a DMM. Turn on the meter, set to volts dc, push red probe into the hole in the output power jack and touch the black probe to the outside of the same jack. Have someone plug the AC cord into a good outlet(one you know has power). If the adapter is working you should see 12 vdc displayed on the meter. There still could be a problem as I recently found an adapter which displayed the correct voltage with no load but little or no voltage with a load. Testing with a load is a problem if you are not familiar with the procedure. Odds are if you have 12 vdc the adapter is fine and you have a short somewhere in the monitor. If you are handy with tools and feel confident, remove the back of the unit and check the fuses in the power supply. If they check OK you probably can't do much more. Unless you are an electronic tech you will need to take the unit to a shop for repair by a qualified tech. Good luck.
