If that is the max your current video card will do then your kinda hooped. Most video cards are part of the laptop motherboard and can't be changed out without changing the motherboard..... which means a new laptop.

We reinstalled Windows and now there is no "Display Adapter" in the device manger listing and the display is not right. I think we are missing a driver for Nvidia GE Force 6200 turbo cache card....

Please check if you have an onboard display card and the NVDIA GEforce card, this situation can hapen when you connect your monitor to the onboard card instead of the NVidia card and try to install the driver for NVIDIA card.

Connect it back to the NVIDIA display card and once again install the downloaded driver, it should identify the device and install fine.

Just installed two new monitors. Have ge force 8400 gs card. Windows 7. I can see both screens, but they are acting as two single screens. mouse won't move from screen to screen.

It sounds like you have the monitors setup as mirrored monitors instead of an extended desktop.

When in the display properties of windows click the monitor you want to have as the extended desktop and you should see a check box for extend monitor to this screen.

My max pixels av available to chose on NVidia Ge Force 8500 GT is 1074 x 768, why? I use a vx2235wm monitor. I should have alot higher pixel option.

if your monitor is vx2235wm and GRAPHIC CARD is NVidia Ge Force 8500 GT then it will shown much higher resulation then 1024 x 768

reinstall your Graphic CARD drivers, and then check your resulation is much higher then before ,

Monitor displays message "Out of Range" when trying to set the resolution to 1600x1200 I have NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M video card with native NVIDIA driver installed

The max resolution to your monitor is 1680x1050. The video card can't help you with the resolution if the monitor doesn't support it.

Graphics card problem

Shankar,

I looked up your Monitors specefications to try to confirm my theory. Which is that this is a resolution problem. Your Monitor is rated for a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 at 68 Mhz so this is the max that your Video card can drive this at. However with a CRT Monitor running them at their MAX for extended periods of time can lead to the fuzzyness your talking about. Its likely that when you switched it to the On board or secondary videocard that it defaulted to the standard SVGA display levels of 800 x 600 resolution. Allowing the Video card to increase the refresh rate to 85Mhz.

Which coincidentally is what the Samsung recommends as the optimum setting for this monitor so I believe if you scale down to 800 X 600 @ 85Mhz I think this will clear up your problem. Though if your like me you like to maximize your screen real estate as much as possible.

There are alot of monitors in the market for around $100 USD that have "Native" resolutions of around 1280 X 1024 @ 75Mhz

Hope this helps you
Dave

ViewSonic VA2216w cannot get resolution 1680 - 1050

Dont change the screen resolution by going to computer resolution screen or the settings screen.
Open the NVIDIA graphics utility or display utility and change the settings from there as all the controls regarding the screen resolution and the color effect are now handled by NVIDIA...
