what is the brand and model number and I will try and find a manual for you and come up with some suggestions. One thing to look at is the spindle lock stuck or can you turn the blade freely by hand. Let me know.

You either have a break in the cord or the switch is open (broken electrical circuit). Sometimes the cord will get pinched or wound and the wires inside will break. A quick way to test a cord is to crimp the cord in your hand the entire length from the plug to the handle while holding the switch in the on position. If there is a break somewhere crimping the cord should make contact for a couple of seconds and you will get some power to the saw. The best way to check is to use a multi meter to check the continuity of the cord. You will have to remove the switch from the housing and use your meter on the cord. Set your meter to the ohms function and test the continuity of the load and line wires. (Touch one lead of the meter to the blade and the other to the corresponding wire that goes into the switch. Hint the polarized blade side - wide side- is the white wire and the smaller blade is the black wire.) If you have continuity through the wire you can check the switch next. Locate where the cord wires go into the switch and the other two wires that come out. Test at these two points while depressing the switch. If you have continuity in the switch and the cord you need to check the carbon brushes to see if they are worn or broken. If you need any assistance please post back and I will help.

The trigger may have simply failed. Usually failure occurs at the least convenient time or circumstance.

To lock the choke on:-
1. depress dead mans trigget on top of back handle
2. squeeze throttle trigger fully in.
3. slide on switch fully down to 'full choke' position. 'it should stay there'.
4. Pull saw over until it fires once.
5. click 'on' switch up one position to 'half choke'

I am using a this jigsaw and the motor keeps running whether i am holding down the button or not is this normal??

unless the trigger lock is depressed it is NOT normal and potentially dangerous if you lift it up and could possibly cut you. The switch has a problem and would need to be replaced.

What is the security lock on a Dewalt 24v reciprocating saw? Does it affect the use of it? I want to purchase one but the security lock doesn't work. Thanks for your help.

The trigger lock on a recip saw is a safety device that is there so the trigger switch will not work unless the lock is pressed first. If the lock doesn't work the saw will still work properly, it just isn't as safe. Anything that touches the trigger switch, from accidental contact by yourself or things you're working on to little children, can make the saw start up.

Saw stopped working during a job How to troublwshoot a trigger switch on circular saw

when you pull the trigger switch it should "click" when engaged.. if you don't hear a "click" then you have to replace the trigger.... If it does click then it could be brushes, or a short in the cord.

How do you remove the safety button on a sears electric chain saw switch, so that I can replace the switch?

On most electric saws, you have a lock out button that you need to push in prior to depressing trigger. If this is the case on your model, the lock out button can be removed by pulling directly out of saw housing. It takes a little force but it does snap out

Hi, need to use drop saw. Have used many times, however husband usually around. He has now passed away, and I know this may sound ridiculous, but have plugged in and can't find power switch or catch to...

If this is a Makita Mitre saw the switch requires 2 operations to engage. First you should see a round button on handle, you need to depress the button and then pull the trigger. I would recommend doing this with the tool unplugged first so you get the feel for it. Second the release button is on the right hand side of the saw, what you need to do is push down on the saw head some and PULL out on the round pin to release. I would recommend also that you go to Makitatools.com and type in your model number and download a owners manual so you can see exactly how to use the tool. Let me know if you need any more help please.
