Please check that you router has a QoS function, if so make sure it's OFF because the problem sticks in router's config. if it's not QoS, there must be some other limitation active in the router. the fastest way to get rid of it is reset of router to factory settings. if you have time you always can check every single setting yourself and do not reset router. hope i helped.

SOURCE: Netgear Firewall

I have NetGear RangeMax WPN824. I work from home and need access to my desktop at work . I go thru Kaseya to access my desktop at work. I continue to get the same error: "Unable to connecto the KServer@216.186.253.12 on Port 5721. Check firewall, router or proxy server is allowing outbount TCP connection to 216.186.253.12 on port 5721."
Is port 5721 associated with the rangemax WPN824? If so how can I enable this.

You have to do 4 things,,,,,
upgrade the firmware of the router
trigger the ports on the router for the caming console or xbox you have .
make the mtu to 1365
no mac filtering should be on the router ,,
and make the wireless configuration on the router manual ,,not the wifi protected setup with channel 1 ,6 ,9 or 11,,,radio band should be standard 20mhz

Sometimes it may depend on the connectivity of the level your internet. A while ago I had a lot of problems with internet and like you, my games often crashed.

The easiest thing is to check your connection and make sure you are getting a strong signal.

On Xbox 360 to check your connection just follow this link:

Troubleshoot Xbox 360 connection to Xbox Live

While it's a lot to read it will help you in the long run.

To check your speed on Xbox Live go here
Slow experience on Xbox Live (for Xbox One)

You can also check out to see if Xbox Live may be the problem. By going to this link.
Xbox Live Status

The next thing, try replacing your router, when I bought my new router my problems stopped. You can also upgrade to a newer modem to DOCSIS 3.0. This of course depends on your internet speed. If you are below 20mbs I wouldn't worry about upgrading just yet. But upgrading never hurts. However, if you are trying to get 50mbs or more DOCSIS 2.0 bottlenecks. While I am no expert on modems. I think the DOCSIS 2.0 modem bottlenecks around 38mbs.

To Check your speed on the internet, this is the site most people go to.

Use whichever server you wish. I usually do multiple ones to see how it differs.

Choppy playback, keeps stopping to load

Your Internet connection is too slow.
So, your media-player is getting "starved", and thus must "wait" for more content to be downloaded.
Upgrade the speed of your Internet connection, or connect to higher-speed web-servers, such as YouTube.

Belkin Router G+MIMO is significantly slowing the Virgin broadband connection

You don't mention if you've tested the connection without the router, or whether you're using a wireless or wired connection. So I've tried to give you as much of the necessary information as possible, sorry it's so long and I hope I haven't rambled too much or been confusing.

Remember not to test using just one site, the wider the range of sites you use to test, the more useful your findings, up to a point. One or two large sites should be enough ie microsoft, ubuntu, etc and maybe a couple of sites that you use regularly.

Test the connection without the router, if it's much better, then you know it's definitely something with the router, if not then it's either a slow server(if it only happens with certain pages), virgin or your pc(running slow, viruses, faulty hardware etc). So make sure your pc is working properly, clean of viruses and spyware (including ie toolbars, and google software etc) and/or phone virgin.

If you're not sure if your pc is ok, see if you can borrow another and try it on your connection. Make sure the owner doesn't have a similar problem to yours.

To test yourself if it's likely to be virgins fault go to this http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download and click on the "get it" button don't worry it's a safe download, but you can cancel the download after you've checked your speed anyway. Or you can download something from Microsoft if you prefer(there are other sites you could use for this, but you need to make sure it's definitely got the speed capability). Leave it downloading for a few minutes then write down the transfer speed you're getting and check against the list at the bottom. Make sure you don't do this during peak times (ie. 4-9pm etc), as it won't be accurate enough.

So if the connection improved without the router then test your router.
If you're using a wireless connection, then see if you can get better speed with a wired one.

If wired is faster then make sure the router is set to use wireless g and not just b, also try changing your channel number. It may just be that you're too far away from the router (either move the pc closer or get a range extender) or that there's too much in the way ie. metal, brick, concrete. Or that there's too much interference, ie. other peoples wireless (in which case change the channel number), cordless phones, microwaves, etc. (try to move them out of the way if possible)

If the speed on wireless and wired is about the same or not much better, and it's not down to virgin or your pc, then you'll need to make sure your settings are correct and in line with virgins. It may be a faulty router, but it's usually not the case.

Speeds
-----------

Transfer speeds
eg 10kB/s, 1.1 MB/s

1024 kB/s = 1 MB/s

Right you know what line speed you're meant to be getting right? It'll either be 4Meg, 10Meg 20Meg or 50Meg. Now you've seen your transfer speed you're thinking that it's really slow, well this may be the case but it's not as easy as that, line speed and transfer speed are measured in different ways

line speed = kilobits or megabits per second = kb/s or Mb/s
transfer speed = kilobytes or megabytes per second = kB/s or MB/s

1 byte = 8 bits so if you have a 20meg (megabits) connection your maximum transfer speed is 20 divided by 8 which equals 2.5 MB/s or 2500 kB/s, that's the theory, in reality you'll never quite get that high, but you should at least have about 2MB/s+ (megabytes not megabits)

4meg = 500 kB/s
10meg = 1.25 MB/s or 1250 kB/s
20meg = 2.5 MB/s or 2500 kB/s
50meg = 6.25 MB/s or 6250 kB/s

But remember that is the theoretical maximum, and not taking overheads into account, you're likely to see slightly less, even at non-peak times and with large sites that have the infrastructure to provide hundreds of times the bandwidth of your connection.

Want to get more speed out o my fiberoptic broadand

Well the best router for your connection type would be WNR2000. Even Virgin media recommend this router for their 20 and 50 Meg connection. I am pretty confident that this router will meet your requirement with this ISP connection.

Hope this helps.

Network is to slow for video chat

this means your modem speed is too slow to stream live video. when you connect to someone live with video you are downloading the image. this is known as streaming when done live. the slower your broadband connection the worse the quality gets. you could try again another time as it could be effected by how many people are on the internet in your area at one time. or failing this you could switch to a faster option like virgin broadband,this is a good one . or talktalk is only 6.99 a month on top of line rental. i dont know if this one is fast enough though

I keep losing my connection plus it downloads super slow

I have the same problem. I have narrowed the problem down to having too many simultaneous connections.I can surf all day long with no problem but when I start downloaded via a torrent or if I play an online game in a room with 32 players, my connection eventually grinds to a halt. No amount of tech visits to your house will ever uncover the problem because your line speeds and voltages will appear normal. Swapping out the modem for another of the same kind won't fix the problem because the issues appears to be inherent in the modem. When downloading torrents you'll have to limit the number of connections your computer will accept.

I assume you mean you can't play games online?

Is your account Gold or Silver? (Go the the Marketplace blade, then down to account information, membership.)

You can only game online with a Gold subscription, which is like $50/year.
