I Googled and found a thread with the following tip:
>Menu Button * 9 1 (parameter init), and then Menu Button * 9 9 (Full reset)

That worked great for me and my MFC-6800! If it doesn't work for you, here is the thread with many other tips:

Good luck!

You have a fuser problem. The area where the paper comes out. No heat to those rollers. Lawrence

Try this one:

4) After it says "PLease wait" hit the stop/exit button to get out of the maintenance mode

I have a brother mfc 6800 and do I need a telephone line on it?

You will need a phone line connected to the MFC 6800. If you have a separate line for your fax number, make sure you connect this line to your MFC 6800. If you have a different ring, but on the same line as your phone number, you'll need to set up your MFC to utilize the distinctive ring (see the manual for setting this up).

Program sending address on brother mfc-6800

The settings should be able to be changed one of two ways. Either under fax settings on the printers menu, or under fax settings under the printer properties panel on the computer.

Brother MFC-8500 Fax Error 77

Error 77 is a fuser error. If resetting the power doesn't work, then the fuser is bad and it will need replacement. Repair should cost around $200-250.
