Question about Sony CLIE PEG-S360 Handheld

Possible dead battery, but I'd like to be sure

My Clie won't turn on, even when I plug it into the wall. Before I order a new battery for it, I'd like to be sure that the battery really is the problem. It seems a bit scary that it won't turn on even when it is plugged in, and I wonder if maybe that's an indication that it is more than a battery problem. Does anyone know if this sounds symptomatic of a dead battery or of something else?

Re: possible dead battery, but I'd like to be sure

This may sound silly, but make sure you didn't accidently spin the little wheel on the side thus, turning the screen down so low that it can no longer be seen.

I've had several co-workers do this and coming running to me to say they broke it... silly, but common.

A Sony Clie PEG-N610C has been in storage for years(it appears unused). Neither the AC charger or the cradle charger will make the charge indicater light respond. It is completely dead in all respects. Can...

Since the battery is within the unit it can leak or go BELOW the threshold level of the cell wherein the charger will not work to charge the unit. However if you can confirm the battery voltage to be below, use a multimeter to check, then before replacing use a JUMP START with an external limiter DC bench supply , you can use a series resisitor of about 47 ohms with a 6-9 VDC.
If the battery takes up voltage the see if the charger will respond and the set will power.

Is it technically possible to recover the data after the battery dies?

NO, not usually, but in saying that I guess residual charge may for a brief period allow it to work until all the power was dissipated. from the capacitors etc, BUT that's highly unlikely. So the answer is YES, it is technically possible. It also depends on the definition of "Dies" a dead battery while it may NOT power the unit, may have enough to work certain parts of the circuit. BUT if the battery is totally exhausted. and there is NO power at all. Then NO.

Battery won t charge or operate phone Problem - T-Mobile MDA Compact Smartphone

Okay, I searched and searched until I found a solution that worked for me. I tried the USB thing, I got my phone to turn on once, but never to charge. Here's what I did:

(Do this at your own risk)
I zapped my battery with a 9v battery. One wire on each terminal and then held it to the MDA battery (positive to positive, negative to negative) for about three seconds. I did this about five times. (Don't let the wires touch while they are connected to the 9v battery.) I IMMEDIATELY plugged my phone into a wall charger, NOT my computer (The computer wouldn't charge my phone). As soon as it was connected to the wall charger, I turned it on. After starting up, the orange light came on, and it started charging. I was skeptical about this solution at first, but trying everything else I resolved to do this and then if it didn't work buy a new battery, but it worked and my MDA is charging as I'm typing. The original ideal came from a post on the xda-developers website by dew1989. I added the additional steps that got my battery charging again. I hope this helps!

Problem with Sony Clie - NX70V/E - battery

i just replaced the battery on my NX60. It was a very easy task. Look on the net for batteries. I found a battery for $18 plus S/H. It came with the special plastic screw driver and instructions. I just threw everything away or I would give you the company name. I found several. The instructions are easy. Simply remove the screw ofr the barrtey compartment and all the scrws holding on the back. Remove the back, carefully remove the battery, carefully replace the battery making sure you place the wires in the correct position. Replace the back and screw the thing together. You can also order a battery from Batteries Plus. The original battery in my machine was 1000 ma the newer batteries are 1200 ma. Good luck.

Sony Clie sj33 battery

If you haven't already done so. Try resetting PDA in back, if that doesn't work go back to battery and verify connections are correct and check connection wires (they may be frayed or damaged). I'm not sure that will solve the problem, but it worths a shot.

Clie and Palm on the same machine

Are you trying to use two different PDAs with the same PalmDesktop? That will be a problem. I switched from Palm to Clie and back to Palm, and their drivers are NOT compatible - even though they are basically the same software. Stupid, I know. At least now I can have two different Palm Desktops - one for my Clie and one for my T3. It's working for me right now. I would make backup files of everything before you load the new Desktop. You could lose all your data/programs if you don't. I learned that the first time.
