Question about Peavey Music

No sound coming out of speakers when turned on

I have a older model, at least mid 70's or older, Peavey Vintage tube amp, with 4 6L6'tubes, and six 10 inch speakers. My problem is that I don't get any sound at all when I turn it on. When turned on, the red light comes on and stays on. When I flip the standby switch on,red light still stays on but no sound what so ever comes out of speakers, with or without a guitar plugged in. The speakers a fine as I've plugged them into another amp. I've tested the tubes and they are all fine according to the tube tester. And visually, nothing looks burnt or any wires damaged. Any ideas or suggestions?

If you get absolutely no sound, not even a pop when changing the standby switch, this probably means the rectifier OR the switch has failed. The red light just means power is getting to the power transformer... probably fuse is OK.

My peavey valveking 112 keeps frying the 12ax7 tube. its the one behind the input jacks.once its gone it gets distorted sound on clean side.when you turn it back to standby static noise back through...

You need to take it to a local repairer who specialises in valve amps. I has to be looked at or you will just keep destroying tubes

No sound. Screen face lights don't light up. All tubes glow when powered on. The speaker pops when coming out of standy-by into full on state. But absolutely no guitar sound, no auxiliary input sound, ...

If it is within warranty take it back to the shop. If not then its going to need an engineer to look at it. Its not worth fooling around inside a tube amp as the capacitors can retain lethal voltages even when unplugged.

I was playing then all the sudden it sounded like it shorted out. The power is still on and the tubes fire up but the "STANDBUY" switch isn't lighting up when in on position. Please help.

The speaker is blown. Did it smell a little funny when this happened. Sometimes they get a faint burning smell when they blow. Some Peavey amps especially older ones are known for letting DC current slip through to the speaker and blows it immediately. Most of the rest of the amp deals with that pretty well so I'm not quite sure what going on with the standby switch. Probably just a blown bulb.
