Question about HP PhotoSmart C4480 All-in-One Printer InkJet
Hp printers cartridges have a circuit, which could be damaged in your case. That is the reason you are getting the error message. However,
The use of refilled print cartridges alone does not affect either the warranty or any maintenance contract purchased from HP for its Inkjet printers. Repair will not be covered under the warranty or by the maintenance contract if an HP Inkjet printer failure or damage is found to be directly attributed to the use of a modified or refilled HP Inkjet print cartridge.
I strongly sugget you to use HP genuine ink cartrdiges. I understand that wont work out economically.

Tips for a great answer:
severe cartridge error related message, on the HP C4600, C4700 or D110a printer
models, I suggest you run the internal Tap 41 diagnostics test which will tell
you the electrical health of the ink cartridge - in many cases the cartridge is
internally electrically damaged and will need to be replaced. In addition, you
can temporarily bypass an 'incompatible cartridge(s) or Missing/Not Detected
error message by performing the Cartridge Error Bypass procedure...refer to two

These types of severe
cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", "print
cartridge(s) problem", etc.) typically indicates the internal micro-electronics
of the HP #74 / 75 (or 74XL/75XL) cartridge(s) are damaged. The cartridge's electrical wire runs at
rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat
susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In
addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal
electrical failure. I suggest you first run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to
check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass
the error (temporarily) on most models which use HP 74/75 cartridges. Refer to
