Question about Logitech X-540 Computer Speakers

Logitech speakers hissing only when headphones plugged in.

I have some Logitech speakers, I don't know the exact model or anything but I plug them into my computer and everything is fine. I plug in my headphones and I hear a fuzzy hissing noise, how can I make that noise stop? Because the cord on my headphones isn't long enough to reach around to the back of my computer with the setup I have.

Maybe one side of the cord isn't plugged in all the way, usually happens when i have part of my cord in. Have you tried to pull the cord out and slowly put it in until the fuzz starts?
Also if you have a wireless phone (or cell phone) near your speakers it can happen because your headphones might not have as much shielding

The headphone adaptors attach to your computer has a
loose connection. Use another headphone and try.

Why wont my computer recognize my speakers? My computer is gateway with windows vista on it. In my device manager it has a caution sign but the logitech website says the speakers dont need drivers. Please...

Those speakers are meant to just plug into a sound card or onboard sound device or any sound device that has headphone jacks e.g. iPod. They don't provide feedback to the PC, so there is absolutely no need for drivers, which is why you don't see them in device manager. Think of them as a glorified pair of headphones.

I have no sound

Try different speakers which you know are working if possible.
If the good speakers are also not working, then your Logitech speakers may be ok. Try plugging them into a different device such as iPod headphone jack, stereo headphone jack, etc.
Let me know how you go.
Hope this helps, Benji

I have upgradded my Laptop operating system to

Use the ones for Windows Vista. Vista Drivers work for 7.

Now considering these speakers plug in via headphone jack you dont need drivers for your speakers. You should be looking for sound drivers for your laptop.
Plug in headphones see if they work if they do then there is no reason why your speakers should not.

the circuit board and amplifacation supply inside the sub are blow or shorted out.thus preventing any sound. the head phone jack works only because it is a bypass feature supported by the actual computer not the surround sound unit

Logitech system where do you plug in the earphones there are sides on goes in the speaker where does the other go

Plug the headphones in where the speakers are plugged in. You use either the Headphones or the speakers. Plug the headphones into the green jack and if it has a mike, plug the pink mike jack into the the pink jack.
Hope this helps. Bud

No sound from computer speakers

Make sure that you have the speaker plugged into the GREEN jack on the back of the computer or sound card. If they are not color coded then make sure it is plugged into the speaker out. Pink is for the mike and Blue is or plain is for input. You probably already know this but sometimes it helps to know if your not sure. Hope this is of some help. Bud
