Question about Philips DVDR 3355 DVD Recorder

Open Question

I am unable to open the cd tray on my philips dvdr 3480. I turned on the unit today and it will not open the cd /dvd tray. I get this error in the display: "E2" I made this unit region free a while back but don't know if this could do any harm to it. Been using it without problems a while since then.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: I have a Philips DVD

IF it is connected via a scart lead, make sure that the connectors at both ends are pushed in securely to the DVD and TV.

Scart connectors have 21 pins, and the audio pins are at the opposite end to the video pins, so if the connector isn't in straight, you either get sound & no picture or vice versa.

If this isn't the case, give more details on the connection.

SOURCE: Philips dvdr 3480 disc draw refuses to open

Illustration:
This usually happens when you close the drawer with no disc in it. There is a strong magnet inside the DVD-drive that keeps the spinning disc in the correct position. But when the drive is empty, the magnet is connected to tough to its counterpart (no disc in between) and the worn out motor and/or transmission (belt) is not able to pull them apart in order to open the disc tray.

How to fix - "brute-force-attack":
Press OPEN and give the disc draw a couple of decent slaps (or snap at the tray cover with your forefinger) until it opens. Repeat procedure, if motor stops before drawer is open.

How to fix - "high-tech-approach":
Disconnect power chord. Locate the slot provided at the bottom of the device, near the smaller, left clip holding the front panel. Insert a screwdriver into it at the far right (when viewing from the front), so you can push a small white plastic-lever-thingy (can be seen thru the slot) to the far left. Now the tray is partly opened and can be pulled out completely.

Future outlook:
Don't you never ever close your old machine with no disc in the tray - or just start over again...

My Technika DVDr 2005 drawer will not open and has a DVD in place - how can I retrieve the DVD?

turn it off then unplug the dvdr then after a while plug it again and turn on, now press the play button after a while press the stop button then next is the eject button. if still the tray won't eject unplug the dvdr use a philip screw driver unscrew to open the cover. look for the plastic motor gear then manually turn it with your finger to eject the tray now you can get your dvd. place back the cover and plug the unit and then turn on to check if its working again and eject the tray. thanks i hope it will help you good luck.

DVD drive will no longer open

I went to look at getting it fixed and wit was going to cost as much as a new device, so I pulled it to bits and found that the rubber band in the DVD player was frail. This meant it didn't have enough strenght to load the disk completely.

I went to a stationary shop and brought a new one the same size and it is perfect.

Cost. 10c.

You will need to be careful and confident pulling it to bits and some of the screws are no standard. good luck.

Alternatively there is a slot under the unit that you can force the DVD mechanism open or closed. A hassle though.

DVD RW stucked - stall the whole system.

Hi, I found this site today cos I had a similar problem. To cut a long story short I found a slot on the bottom of the machine, below the disc tray, that has a white lever in it. After removing the power source I moved the lever to the side and the tray opened manually so I could remove the disc. It seems It was a duff DVDR as other discs now work fine. Good luck !
