Question about Weller D550 Soldering Gun

1 Answer

During a very extended "on" cycle, there was a a loud snap with flash. Gun is inop now, and upon disassembly I found what appears to be a fusible link that had been burnt away. Any hints as to where to obtain, and where is it to be connected? Rearmost solder joint on switch appeared burnt, but without a schematic, I'm not taking chances. Had gun entire adult life(54 years old now), and would like to continue to do so. Thanks much Bob

I wonder if you can still find a replacement heater coil for your old Weller D550 soldering Gun. The coil is just
in series connection. One end is connected to the line
of the power cord. The other end is to be connected to
the trigger switch in series with the other end of the
cord. Hope that help you. Send an email to let us know

Standing water in base of washing machine

Is it a front load machine? If so, remove the kick plate under the door and there should be a plastic filter that screws in on your right (approx 2"-3" in diameter). You'll need a catch pan that's lower than the bottom edge of the filter cap, as water will flow out of it when removed. I had one that would occasionally eat a sock or other small article of clothing, stopping up the drain filter and causing the tub to hold water. The added weight of the water causes the tub to not turn at the RPMs needed, and sometimes not at all. Let me know if this helps.

Shaver is getting very loud

Most likely, the swivel frame that the foil snaps onto has a broken piece(s) of plastic inside making a buzzing sound. If this is the case, you will need to replace the drive unit. You will find this part for model 8585 at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

During shaving the shaver makes a loud grating noise. It works fine otherwise. Even during the cleaning cycle, there is a bit more of that noise. Could it need a new battery?

Most likely, the noise is caused by vibration of a broken piece of plastic in the swivel fframe. If this is the case, the part required to fix it for model 8585 can be found at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Whirlpool washing machine make loud noise after spin cycle quits. Noise continues until cycle winds down. Sounds like a machine gun being fired

Hello, have to tell you that most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping noise during the spin, the load of cloth may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the cloths, then restart the machine. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Thanks

Ohms measurement inop

It is very likely that it is a fusible link to prevent the meter from being damaged when making high current measurements. I have a couple of meters and they both have some sort of fuse that protects the meter.

Hope this helps, if not , let me know.

Maytag Neptune Series MAH5500BW loud noise during spin cycle.

very loud in spin cycle can mean a bad rear bearing, not something a homeowner would want to try to replace, parts would exceed 6-7 hundered dollars. you may have some extended part warr through the manufacture. still probly gonna be a 5 hundred when the labor is added in
