Have figured out part of the problem. The TV was on the wall and functioning perfectly for more than a year. All of a sudden it starting shutting off for no reason. It got so bad I quite using it. Before throwing it in the trash I gave it one more chance. I set it up in my garage and got a local channel without an antenna and let it run for 5 hours and no problems. Then I attached a rabbit ears to it and ran it for another 7 hours and it worked just fine. Then I took it and attached it to the sat cable in another room and it ran for an hour or so and shut off. Next I ran it through one an HD converter box (even though it is an HD TV). It ran good for a few hours. Then I attached the rabbit ears and got a good picture and ran it for a few more house. Next step I attached it directly to the Sat receiver box with three cables (R,W,Y)and it has been running with a perfect picture for the past 5 hours. The original input was with a coaxial cable off the satellite and through the master box downstairs. I wonder if something is being lost in the length of the line from the box to the TV and maybe something in the signal that is shutting down the TV. Now I have a really good TV that has not been used for the past 6 months but when it is attached to the sat receiver through a coaxial cable it shuts off. Now what?

I have the same problem. I have a 37 inch and after its been on for about 45 min it shuts down. It comes on about a minute later and shuts down again in about 5 to 10 min. It does this 3 or 4 times and then it shuts off for good. What gives? I have had the TV for about 2 years, no extended warranty.

I am having the same issue. The TV suddenly flickers blue and shuts down. It may happens at any time. It has gotten worse. I have a five year extended warranty, but just found out that I ave to ship the TV back to Syntax in California for repairs. I checked with several TV Repair shops and they said the same thing...they will not work on this TV?
I was advise by the extended warranty Company and the local TV Repai shops that had I purchased a Sony, JVC,Panasonic...All Japanese, they would work on those models. I saved a dime by buying this TV, but wold recommend that nobody but any HD TV other than one made in Japan. Olivia is made in CHINA. Enough said?

Change your screen resolution to anything BUT 1080. This will solve the problem of shutting off on its own.

LG TV KEEPS TURNING OFF

Kindly do not keep attempting to turn it on, as you are likely to spoil some other boards/parts/components of the TV. Look for any loose contacts in power out let, RC jack, cable and socket. In order to ensure, it is not caused by the input device, connect a DVD player
and see. Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.

My tv turns on and off without touching it

First of all ensure that this is not caused by the power inlet. Many a times, loose contacts in power outlet can cause this problem. Try connecting the TV to a different power outlet. If problem persists, it is better to call in a qualified service technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation.

Hi, My TV has been turning off by itself and

Good day!!!!

If your TV turn ON/OFF itself without sounds..The possible problems are voltage drop on power supply,overheat/overload,loose/cold solder of power supply or bad T-con board..

If you already inspected all capacitors on the power supply and all looks fine but it doesn't mean that your power supply board works fine because sometimes bad capacitors not look like bulged or looks fine visually but the value change its either lower/higher capacitance value. In that case you need to use capacitance meter to find bad caps..But before we do that,I have a procedure to minimize/eliminate troubleshooting. In this procedure you need a multimeter tester to perform voltage data check..

In this procedure we can determine where the fault came from..

This are the steps:
  1. Open the back cover.
  2. Look at the power supply board (it is usually connected directly to power cord).
1_18_2012_4_37_54_am.jpg
3. Find the 3 long connectors near the aluminum heat sink. Those connectors having voltage marks on each pins so you can easily determine where did you get the voltage..

4. Point the black test probe to GND (ground) and the other probe (red) to 5vdc,12vdc/15vdc,24vdc..Let me know if you find any voltage drop or voltage lost..

5. If all voltages are works fine..The possible problem is on T-con/logic board or main board..But in that case the common problems is on T-con board I found it online $34..

Hope it helps..Just keep on touch to fix your TV and works fine again..

Regards,
Chester Pendilton.

I turned off the power prior to changing a bulb controlled by a Leviton true touch dimmer. Now, the touch functions no longer work. the light is stuck on bright (dimmer doesn't work) and I can only...

The switch has a protected memory and will go to the default setting in case of power failure or shut off. Make sure you swapped it with the same watt/type bulb. You can always shut off the power to the dimmer for a few min. and turn it back on to force a reset.
