Are you using canon inks? Take out the blacks and tap them on a surface you are going to throw away. Bottom side down, until you see black easily leaving circles. Replace, do a deep cleaning 2 or 3 times and a nozzle check. After that you may want to remove print head and clean with alcohol.

Testimonial: "will try this on the printer when we get home from holiday."

I have a hp 6500. It has started printing pink instead of black.

Either:
* printers mix in a bit of "colour" ink when you request BLACK,
so that the colour ink-jets do not dry-out. So, since your BLACK has become EMPTY, all you get is PINK,

or,

* some printers mix colours to produce BLACK-ish colour.
Check that your CYAN and YELLOW ink-cartridges have not gotten to be EMPTY.

Everytime I change my print to grayscale it prints in pink

Not knowing what sort of printer you have it's hard to pin-point exactly what the issue may be. Taking an educated guess I'm going to guess that you are using an inkjet of some sort. These printers will often use a combination of the cyan, magenta, and yellow inks to make black and shades of gray, and it is possible to get pink instead of gray if the cyan and and yellow are to low to provide a mix to produce gray. Try new ink cartridges to see if that makes any difference...some printers, like DesignJets use individual cartridges for each colour, and most small printers use a combination cartridget that contains cyan, magenta, and yellow ink in different reservoirs in the same tank.

If you are using a printer that doesn't require both the colour cartridge and the black cartridge in to function, try pulling out the colour cartridge and printing in grayscale. Most printer drivers are designed to recognize the fact that the printer only has the black cartridge in it and will automatically make the necessary adjustments.

My watermarks are printing as pink instead of gray, this started happening after I changed the black cartridge. I have not made changes to the original document, and normal text still prints as black

if that is a refilled cartridge, you might have a problem with the ink. try print something (text) in pure black , and grey only, and see waht happens, if does notprint, means the printer has hard time with that black cartridge.

C88 printing in grey instead of the color

In the Print dialog, go to 'Properties.' Screw around in there for a bit.
