Hi!

You can try updating the VGA card driver. What is the model of your video card? Its where you hook up the cable of the monitor.

Hook a spare monitor to the computer, if okay! hanns star are the problem, but if the spare shows the same symptom, the Video Graphics Card in the computer is the issue. If computer okay! change the video cord from the computer to the monitor if possible just to verify.

I've been using my monitor for quite some time & all of it sudden it doesn't work. When I boot up my computer (XP) the Windows screen does show on the monitor then it tell me "NO Connection"

If the monitor is coming on with no connection, check the video cable connection from the computer to the monitor, "sub the cord if possible" hook a spare monitor to the computer to verify the computer is working properly, because I think the monitor is okay, If it were bad your screen would remain blank regardless.

Hook a spare monitor to the computer to rule out the video graphics card, if okay! it means the HP monitor is the problem, if it is stretched and bowing and the controls have no effect it is a yoke problem, it is time for a new monitor, given the age and cost involved to try and fix it, you are further ahead buying new.

The screen does not sweech on.

If you turn the monitor on, is it getting power? Try hitting the menu button. If it is not getting power, check to make sure that its' plugged in and that the receptacle is in working order. If it is getting power, check to see if the cables are hooked properly to the computer. If you have another computer in the house, try hooking the monitor to another computer to rule out a problem with your computers' VGA card. if you determine that the monitor is okay, it's probably your video card. You can purchase a new video card on the internet, shipped to your home, for less than 20 bucks. installing it takes about 5 minutes as well.

Make sure that your computer unit is working. Sometimes we suspect that it is a monitor problem but usually, it is a frozen CPU set.

When you turn on the monitor, it should light the blue led and after a while, when it does not receive signal from the CPU, it will turn orange. If that is the case, the monitor is functioning well.

So what could be the problem?

Make sure that you hooked the monitor to the right VGA port. If you have an internal VGA port (built in with the motherboard) and you also have an external Video Card, you should hook it to the external VGA port and not the internal one since it is overridden by default.

Do you hear the "short beep" sound when you boot your PC? That signals a good video system. If you don't hear that beep sound (provided your PC's speakers are okay), you should open your CPU case and try to remove your memory modules (RAM). Clean the pins with an eraser and put it on.

Now, your computer should work fine and so with your monitor.

No image on screen

Make sure the monitor is working first. Try hook it up to a regular PC. If it works on a regular PC then make sure your Macbook's output is setup to show the video onto an external monitor.

If you can't get the monitor to show video on a regular pc then that means the monitor is bad.

Black Screen

The first thing I would do after turning the computer on is check to see if the video output is being directed to the LCD screen. The output can be directed using the Fn key along with the key with the picture of the 2 monitors on the Function keys at the top of the keyboard. Hold down the Fn key and tap the other key once or twice,
Next, hook the computer up to an external monitor. Do the same thing with the Fn key to see if it's the LCD screen.
If the external monitor works, then you haven't correctly hooked up the LCD screen or it's bad.
