Try to acquire the latest drivers from the Toshiba website. Make sure you are downloading the correct one for your operating system.

The first thing I would try is reinstalling the driver.

SR1603WM Audio Driver

After that, if you have recently installed any audio programs such as windows media player. Id remove that. Then try reinstalling it.

Steps are bellow to remove it

Method 1: Microsoft Windows XP loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Use the System Restore feature in Windows XP to return to a restore point that is before your installation of WMP 9 beta. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  2. In the System Restore Wizard, click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.
  3. In the first box, click a date on the calendar that is before the date that you installed WMP 9 beta. In the second box, select a restore point, if one is available for that date.

Note Dates that have restore points available appear in bold type.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the system restore process.
Might also trying to search for a free windows registry cleaner and scanning your computer as the final step if the above dont work.

Please rate me and/or recommended me. If you have any other issues please reply.

It seems you have unstable power in your Battery. It is not a good sign for your laptop too. it usually seems on who use their laptop for heavy works like video editing and playing games. You are suggested to Change Your Battery.

Thanx

I have the exact same problem with my acer aspire one. Just recently is started distorting with a mechanical sound...skipping on the videos and making it impossible to actually listen to anything or watch any videos. I thought it might just be an isolated problem until i noticed it happening during startup, etc. I have not found a solution yet but am updating the audio driver. Let me know if you resolved this issue! Thanks!

Distorted, scratchy sound with Toshiba Satellite

OK, I would restore or recover the computer to manufacturer's original specifications and automatic update to the latest sp3.

Then, I would reinstall your virus protection and see if it's better.

Why is the karaoke music from my external hard

Playing through the USB port can cause all sorts of "problems" also ensure NO other software is competing for the CPU time. It is always best to play work on use, anything or file, from the actual hard drive. simply copy the files to the HD, and use them from there Also more RAM is always beneficial Also make sure you have the most up-to-date Codecs installed too.

Itunes music sounds distorted somtimes and not others

The fault is from your laptop speaker. I think it has a hole inside and maybe that's why it distorts. Or maybe the sound/volume is too loud and the speaker does not have the capacity.

I would advice you to get an external speaker for your laptop.

Take care.

Audio Distortion after System Crash

sorry for the late reply. im using windows. im quite sure that there's no virus involved with the distortion of my sound. this is what happened.

1. im surfing the net while listening to music(full volume)
2.)then suddenly the sound gets a bit distorted(jumps, skips)
3.)then everything hangs up which forced me to reboot
4.)the windows loading screen became too long(like 5mins) before it takes me to the main desktop(start up programs loads like 48 years also).
5.)when i play music ,the sound is very much(like alien,"rrrrrrr")

i tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing was fixed. i've even tried Regcure.

i just formatted my notebook and voila its back to normal.
i dunno but i think playing loud music using laptop, or in my case notebook speakers would cause this problem. im using external speakers now and i've got no problems. i just hope that there would be a fix to this problem so that i wont have to reformat if the problem occurs again

Using dvd drive makes makes sounds

There is nothing wrong with your laptop. If you are copying a cd and trying to play music at the same time, you are pushing the processor power of your laptop or low on memory. When copying a cd it should rip it without sound to your hardrive, so i assume that your are playing music from your hardrive as well as ripping and this model of laptop i think comes standard with a 1.3ghz processor with 512mb of memory, which can easily be drained when ripping or burning.
