Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Thanks for using FixYa. Try reseating the printer cartridges. If that doesn't help make sure there is no paper stopping the carriage from moving right to left. The error 5100 means it is a Carriage Position Error. The plastic strip that runs the carriage might get some particles of paper or rust and required to be cleaned with some alcohol and swab. If still the problem persists, then it may be due to some obstruction in the print path or gears or some ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. Lubricate the sliders with some white grease, including the purge cap, which is the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks on when it's not in use.
Please make sure that it is not split on the small wipers or the black caps. The mechanism can now slide more freely. To access the purge mechanism you need to remove the right panel off of the printer. There are two screws on the behind of the printer and two in front for each side panel. You can locate the front screws behind the grey front panel of the printer. Now open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Tips for a great answer:
Sep 08, 2017 | Office Equipment & Supplies
1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the
print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the
time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the
print spooler service)
4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right
corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View ->
I hope this information has been helpful.
