It say drum end soon and i dont know what this means as i put a new ink cartridge in it and it still keeps coming up the same.

Your unit obviously has a separate drum and toner.
Changing the toner, doesn't change the drum.
You will need to change the drum soon.

The drum light has come on indicating it is near the end of its life. Do I need to buy a new printer or can the drum be replaced. model HL-2030/2040/207ON

Hello, Wendy.

Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then replace the drum unit with a new one.

I've seen your drum price for about $120 (USD), so it would be cost-effective to purchase a new drum.

Hope this helps.

Put drum unit and toner cartridge assembly back in machine, but do no close front cover.

You will get a message "Replace Drum?"

You will need to replace the drum soon. Once the drum life ends you will no longer be able to print.

The model drum you need is DR-510, It goes for anywhere between 175-250 dollars, depending where you buy.

Printer wants toner cartridge replaced, though not empty

unfortunately the drum within the cartridge has reached end of life so changing to a new drum cartridge would resolve this issue.
