EA download manager says I am offline?

I have the sims 3.I bought it on disk and I can play it fine but the problem is with downloading. If i want to download something offline it will tell me that I am not currently connected to the internet which obviously I am. This is through EA download manager, I have tried uninstalling and installing again. PLease help?
