The problem is with the vcr section, it is stuck in eject mode thinking there is a tape. This a mechanical problem that might be repairable. The tv and vcr share some of the same circuits, you can try resetting the tray in the out position as if it fully ejected the tape. Now if this does not work it means you have a gear timing problem or bad sensor.
TRY THESE STEPS >Check the buttons on the TV make sure they are clean and not sticking. >Check the Remote Control buttons and see if they are sticking >Clean the Face of the infer Red lens to the remote and the TV... clean them with a small rag or paper towel (Do Not USE Abrasives to clean any part of your Electronics) >Check the plug for any defects >Reset your tv back to it,s factory settings >And if any thing locate your user manual and find the 1-800 number
Pretty much a hoax on those diverter boxes. People ran out and bought them thinking that won't have reception. I have many years in maintenance and several years in nursing homes with different tv's in every room. Not once have I needed a box to pick up channels with or without cable. I myself get 16 channels with rabbit ears and thats enough for me. And I do own a combo as well and it has simple antenna and does me just fine. Depending on your location, the old tv antennas we use to put on our houses...they work amazing! Might be able to snag one on a freecycle or craigslist site. Good luck! :)
