Question about Sony STR-DE345 Receiver

1 Answer

My receiver just quit working. I turned off the power then turned it back on and nothing happened. We took the cover off and saw that two fuses were blown. We replace them and turned the receiver on. They blew immediately.

Fuses wll blow when there are shortouts on the main power supply. That is what fuses do to protect the whole unit. The fact that you just turned it off and on finally killed off the component that was on the way out anyway.

Take a look at the power board as see what caps are burned. Better still if its under warranty take it back and claim. But dont mention you opened it otherwise warranty will be immediately void

Thanks for using FIXYA

Clarion M5675 won't turn on

Take the stereo all the way out and hook the black wire to the negative terminal and the yellow and the red wire to the positive terminal on a charged car battey. If it still does not turn on you may have fuse in the back of the deck. If not it's probably fried.

I HAVE A YAMAHA RX-V663, WAS ROCKING TO PINK FLOYD PRETTY LOUD AN

I had a similar problem. I have RX-V2500. No power to it when plugged it. Unplug then plug in again. Everytime you hit standby you get a click, which happens three timesand then no clicks until you unplug and replug.

I popped the cover off and just inside, where the power cable attaches, there was a white fuse. I think it was a 10A/250V (I'm in Canada), but read what the spec is on your fuse. I replaced this and it worked just dandy. Believe me - I was as surprised as the next guy.

Anyhow - hope that helps.

Obviously make sure it isnot connected to the power supply at all when you remove the cover.

White screen

I had the same problem with my Pioneer Inno Gex-Inno2BK XM radio receiver. One evening while leaving work, I gently took it out of the cradle & the screen suddenly went completely blank & all white. I could still hear music but there was no screen visible. Solution is this: (1) Gently remove the back cover which covers the battery. (2) Gently remove the dark blue square battery which is only about 1 inch (width) by 3/4 inch (height) by 1/4 of an inch in thickness. I removed mine by holding the receiver upside down & gently shaking it with one hand until the battery came out into my other hand. After about 4 or 5 gentle shakes, it came out. (3) Wait about 10 seconds. (4) Place battery back into XM radio receiver being careful to line the copper power receptable on the battery with a corresponding surface inside the receiver. Each copper area is only about 1/10 of an inch by 1/10 of an inch. Use this as a guide when putting the battery back in to make sure it's lined up properly. (5) Gently slide the cover back in place & let it snap into place. (6) Turn receiver back on by pushing power button like normal. (7) XM receiver should boot up with a full display just like new. All recorded songs are still in place. Nothing has been lost. Problem solved. Root cause of problem is probably some type of boot-up issue with the receiver in which the battery (i.e., the power supply) just happened to be slightly ajar...which also persisted even when placing the receiver back in the cradle until the above steps were taken. The steps above worked beautifully for me...Hope it works for you as well! Have A Great Day...Tom Armstrong

I receive error msg and cant eject magazine

The magazine in our Sony CD player would not eject. I tried pressing two buttons at the same time etc., with no result. I uplugged the player, removed the screws that hold the black metal cover on and took off the cover (pull the metal up, out and away at the back bottom sides, then slide it back to release the lip from under the front pane.) Looked down inside and saw the problem, a CD disc extended about 1/2 inch from the magazine, blocking ejection. I pushed the extended edge of the disc back into the magazine with the tip of a kitchen knife. Plugged the player back in, pushed power and then the eject button, and the magazine ejected. Replaced the metal cover and it works fine. If it won't eject again I know what to do. Be sure to unplug before you work, you don't need an electrical shock.
All the best, Sonia Murray
