Question about Acer Aspire 4530-5889 Notebook PC

I recently tried to update my ATI catalyst drivers. i downloaded it from the ATI website, installed it, and restarted my computer. Upon loading back in i could not connect to the internet. I get the message "cannot communicate with www.microsoft.com(65.55.12.249). tried ipconfig/renew tried winshock reset tried unplugging router the internet company has no clue.

The only thing I can tell you is that you need to run a anti-virus program and anti-spyware/malware program to make sure that you computer is not infected. I have had times when my computer was so full of malware, spyware and infected files that I could have my computer access my internet connects but could not get windows internet explorer to open a website.

I would suggest downloading the following programs if you are not running them and get rid of nortopn or mcaffee:

I've never seen Catalyst drivers affect internet connections, but I suppose it is possible.

I'd go the easy way and do a system restore to the last point before installing the Catalyst drivers. If you still have problems, then it's probably something not related to the drivers.

The first thing I'd try then (for simple ease and cheapness) would be a new network cable. Install the new cable, then shut down the computer. Unplug power to the router then the cable modem. Power the cable modem on first, wait for it to connect (give it about 5 minutes if you're not sure). The power on the router, and wait for it the same way. Last, power on the computer, and see if you're back online.

Go to www.ati.com and download an updated driver for the 5770 When you install the software you'll have the chance to install or uninstall you want to uninstall so this will remove any old ati drivers that might be causing this problem. Then go back after you restart the computer and run it again but this time install the new drivers and this should take care of your problem.
As far as the Acer 1912 LCD here are your specs:
  • 1,280 x 1,024 native resolution, fine 0.294 mm dot pitch

HI pewilson929. The Catalyst Control centre is a program that lets you configure your video card settings without using the Control Panel - Display. It installs when you download a driver for you specific ATI product. If you get this error it means you may have the correct driver for your video card. Did you get the driver from ACER or ATI?
Just in case uninstall it from Add/Remove and restart and then download this driver from the acer's website.

If you have Vista OS, it could be a problem after installing ATI's Catalyst Software Suite. If you recently installed it, try uninstalling it or rolling it back to an older version.

You can go directly to the ATI website and download the catalyst driver. This will give you the most up to date driver available. If you get a message saying "your model computer must be updated from the manufacturer" you should go to your computer manufacturers website and install the video driver from there. Please provide your computer model for further support.

ATI Warning:


go to ati website and download the latest catalyst package. this will cure the problem. I have the same problem. works fine now.

Radeon ATI 9600XT video card


Try this, I just tested (2 days ago) an Albatron that arrived here with a 9800pro, crashing everytime they tried to play games.
I installed the latest drivers etc that "should" have resolved the issues...It made it worse. Updated everything including the chipset etc.

After driving myself crazy for several hours I installed the Catalyst 7.3 drivers... Away it went fine, tried the 7.4 (same problems as before), back to 7.3 and fine again.

So with Albatron boards and ATI cards, try the Catalyst 7.3 driver located <HERE>

Ati2mtag causing crash - ATI vid card


Give this a shot - solves the problem for sure:
Right click-mouse over My Computer
Properties
Hardware(Tab)
Device Manager(button)
Click [+] next to System devices
right-mouse on CPU to AGP Controller (or whatever your controller is called, mine was SiS AGP)
Update Driver(button)
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Next(button)
Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
Next(button)
Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Next(button)
Finish(button)
Reboot.
