To replace the door springs, you need to remove both the side covers. This can be done by first removing the lid and then working your way around both panels until they come off. You will then see on either side a cord that is attached to a single spring.routed on a small bend. Very unlikely the spring is broken but possibly the cord has or it has pulled loose from its position. Rectify then reassemble.

How do i fix a broken spring on a dishwasher door

You will need to pull the dishwasher out about 12" to 18" to be able to get to the springs & rope links. Many dishwashers use a "rope link" to connect between the spring and the door hinge; and in others, the door springs connect directly to the door hinges. Once you pull the dishwasher out, you will easily see what broke and what you need to fixe it.

Door opens about 16" then stops will go down but only opens 16"

Probably a broken torsion spring, if you help lift the door as it is opening, it may open all the way. With the door down and you inside, look at the torsion spring above the door opening on the long rod to left or right of centre. One on each side of centre with a double garage door. If either spring is in two pieces, then you will need to get them replaced or replace them your self.

The primary door in a 2 door install has "locked

There's a good chance that if the motor runs and drive chain is not moving, the nylon gears inside the opener housing have stripped. This nearly always happens after one or both springs near the door tracks have broken. The spring provides the counter balance to the weight of the garage door - without them both, the full weight of the door is carried by the motor - which it is not designed to do. You can easily tell if the spring(s) have broken if the door is very heavy to open & close by hand - or is heavier and / or goes up & down unevenly. If you have broken springs, you'll need to reconnect / replace them before you can can expect the opener to work more than a handful of times before the gears strip again.

Pull the plug / power down the opener and set up a ladder under the opener. Remove the screws to gain access to the interior of the opener. If you see a bunch of white plastic / nylon "filings" that is exactly what happened. You can get / order the replacement parts at any Sears store or Sears Online. A kit is probably the best way to go - it contains these parts:

If you need more than these parts (they're often the only ones that need replacing) due to additional damage, you might consider this more comprehensive kit instead:

It's not a big job, but can be a little labor intensive (take pictures as you disassemble the mechanism to help with reassembly later). It can get a little troublesome getting it set up correctly, but is certainly not beyond the scope of abilities of a person that normally uses the tools required to do the job. Desire, a couple hours (or more if springs are broken) and a little bit of mechanical aptitude is all that is required.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply, thanks!

Need door assembly diagram to replace door latch & spring on Panasonic microwave model nn-t964sf

While I don't have that model's diagram, normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

You can order Panasonic parts here.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
