The problem is the solenoid or dual valve is leaking and when that water goes inside the freezer freezes up , this valve has to be replaced.

Is the water volume adjustable in my icemaker?

It maybe pressure related and not a volume of water problem. You could try to go and turn down the tap at the point the water line is attached to the feed pipe for the line to the ice maker they only need to be open a little say one turn to feed the unit.

If I connect plastic tube to back of fill tube shouldn't I be able to blow freely thru it? how do I remove the filler tube that goes thru back of frig to the icemaker?

Line to Ice maker is probably frozen due to long term "inactivity". I run hot water through a small flex tube and a plunger feed device or a Drugstore Syringe recommended by dentists to cope with tooth extraction. I used it for frozen dispenser line. It should work for your Ice maker fill line.

The ice maker stopped making ice

There are only three things that could be bad. First thing you need to check is your water shoot. This is the tube that expels water into the icetray. This could be clogged with ice. If so take a hairdryer and defrost the tube. That being said, your inlet valve is going bad. The reason it is freezing up is the inlet valve is leaking water slow enough to freeze the water shoot. This would also give you the sign that your inlet valve is going bad which is located on the back of the refrigerator where your water line is attached. If those are working properly than it is your icemaker. Normally the icemaker itself is not the problem. I hope I helped you.

If you're wanting to 'melt' any blockage, direct your dryer at the point where the water supply tubing goes into the area around the icemaker. HOWEVER, there should also be a solenoid on the unit that opens to allow water to flow; that's usually the problem. Do you know if the solenoid is working? The solenoid is normally located and the bottom of the unit. The water supply line from the house feeds into it. An electric solenoid with also have a couple of wires coming from it for power. Try tapping it with a screwdriver a couple of times incase it's a little stuck. There may also be a problem with the board that control your unit's programs

Ice maker

Hi, it sounds like made the inlet tube to the icemaker is frozen up. First thing to check tho is that the water valve to the icemaker is ok. If you take the water line off of the icemaker valve, you should be able to blow through it. If you cannot blew through the inlet line that leads to the icemaker tube, it is plugged with ice. You cn thaw that tube out woth a hair dryer.
If I can help further, please let me know.
Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool icemaker

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.

Icemaker does not work

Hello Netmindr32,
You will need to replace your inlet valve. The problem is the water is slowly leaking into your icemaker fill line and freezing up. You will have a double inlet valve and the line going to your dispencer may be working fine but the one going to the icemaker is not sealing off. Be sure to defrost all the ice out after replacing the inlet valve. And please allow several cycles of your icemaker before it makes its first batch. It can take 2-3 cycles to fill lines and filters depending on your model. Lots of luck to you and please let me know if this helped you. Mca0824@aol.com

Jenn Air JCD2389GES ice dispenser problem

You could have a layer of solid ice at the bottom of your icetray. Remove icetray. Remove any ice in bottom. Reinstall. Be careful there is a connection on the rear of the icetray, you may have to turn it to get it to mesh correctly. Fill with ice and it should work fine. Good Luck.
