Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer
Hi my Kenmore series 80 dryers power cord was changed 2 months ago because it melted on one side of the plug that plugs into the wall, after a few months the dryer just stoped working, I read fixya followed the help and I bypassed the 2 blue wires that connect to the white plastic fuse on the blower mount, it worked!! but now I noticed the end of the power cord thats plugs into the wall is starting to melt again, please can any one help me?
This is extremely distressing to me. If someone advised you to jump acoss (bypass) the thermal fuse on the dryer then I am in disagreement. My advise is to trip the breaker at the house power center, remove and replace the dryer main power cord, and replace the thermal fuse. Something is causing the dryer to pull more amperage than it should be, which is what resulted in the melted cord to begin with. You may want to contact a qualified appliance technician to assist in throughly checking the electrical system on the dryer. Until this condition is properly addressed there is a very real safety issue. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Kenmore 80 Series of dryers are consumer grade dryers for home use. As
with most home appliances, the Kenmore 80 series dryers will
occasionally not work as intended. If a problem occurs with your dryer,
however, you do not necessarily need it serviced by a technician. You
can attempt to troubleshoot and fix any problems with your dryer before
contacting a technician.
