MY HP printer can print but does not copy

Same thing just happened to my fairly new 7520 Hp.

I shut my machine first with the shut off button and then unplugged
it for about 5 minutes. Sounds like you tried this and I believe this did not work for me either so I just went into the HP official site and downloaded my printer again. Downloading your printer from their
site is easy and quick instead using the cd. It automatically removed my old printer and installed the printer again. The problem has not returned.

Another problem I just had and because I think one of my new
cartridges (yellow) is somehow damaged. I got a black line down
my pages with a note that my yellow ink is missing. Had black line only when printing and not copying. I reinserted the yellow ink and took a light damp qtip and slightly wiped the machine screen on each ink cartridge.(this screen meets the new opening from each
new cartridge. The black line left.

Hope this helps.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.

Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage.
Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now

If that does not work then follow the next step.

Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.

Compatable red cartridge will not work

Hi Col,

The reality is that yours is an all too common story, the problem is with the type of ink. Your printhead in your printer is a very sensitive little peice of electronics and they tend to react badly to the wrong type of ink. I know that the fool who sold you the ink assured you that it will work as well as the genuine article, (I have heard all this before on many many occasions), but the fact is that the ink inside the genuine epson cartridge is covered by an international patent and cannot be used by anyone other than epson.
To cut a long story short, the non genuine inks are diluted in order to pass through the print head. As a result they tend to also dry very quickly and tend to destroy the head. The best solution I can offer you is to go out and buy a genuine cartridge and hope that it fixes the print head. You will have to install it and try to clean the head.
There are some methods you can use to try to speed up the process, but get your replacement cartridge first and try to do a head clean first. This will hopefully fix your problem.

HP Deskjet 5550 cartridge carriage stuck

I have had this same problem a few times, not due to changing the cartiges, but following one of my kids yanking on a peice of paper as it was printing. After I tried all the unplugging and clearing and re-starting, the arm was still stuck on the left. I read on some forum (can't remember where) while the printer is off, to gently push/pull on the cartiges until they un-jam or start to move. I flet like I was going to break it, but it has worked every time.

Hope this helps osmeone else!

Yellow ink contaminated

Yes, do you refil your own inks. Colour contamination occurs primarily when users overfill ink holes with any colour, then this colour runs into others and voila, a yukky mess. If cartridges are fairly new, heres the quick easy fix. Remove cartridges that are causing the problem, in your case all! Using a proper cleaning solution (you can get this free in refill kits or buy it sepeartely, i got mine from supermarket, works well) and cotton buds, thoroughly clean down where the cartridges sit. There will be both fresh ink and dried ink, so you will have to repeat over and over until all or most colour is gone from cotton buds. Now, let it dry and air, leaving printer cover open. You now have to bleed the black ink as it sounds like it is overfull. This can happen in refilled cartridges, but even store bought ones can have faults. Sit the black cartridge on wet paper towel, on a clean icecream lid or marg lid, even a plate will do, just one that you don't mind ink on by accident. Let it sit a minute or so, now lift it up, and wipe it gently with a wipe (i use unscented baby wipes-huggies, do not laugh, they work well!) press it firmly on a folded tissue, and it should leave a nice clean neat black vertical little line. If it doeas, place it back in its place in printer. Leave open for now. The colour cartridge should need cleaning too, by doing the same, each time you lift it off wet paper towel, wipe it clean, and press it on a tissue to see clean neat 3 colour line. If not, bleed again until it does. When it does place it back in printer and reset ink levels once cover is shut. Try printing now.

No printing

There can be a few causes for the ink light to blink. 1 - the cover isn't well shut. open and close it, and check for any obstructions. 2 - you're out of ink. let's assume you have this option covered, but if you want to check, look for the yellow indicator arrow on the cartridge. 3 - the carts don't sit right, or have a bad connection due to dried ink on the contacts. Take a damp cloth and gently wipe the contacts on the printer side till you get most of the ink off. Next, take the carts, and submerge them in hot water(1-2 mm high) so that only the contacts are in the water. Let the water dissolve the ink for a few minutes, take the carts out, give the contact area a few more wipes, wipe them dry, and try inserting them into the printer again. If you want to check with new parts, but rightly don't want to waste the money, try borrowing. Hope this helped

Ink LED is constantly blinking. Printer does not respond.

The ink LED has 3 causes that make it blink. One is that the top cover of the printer is not well shut. Try opening it and closing it. If you?re lucky you?re home free by now. The second , simple enough, is that you?re out of ink and have to replace the cartridge. This is easy to check ? open the cover and look for the yellow arrow on the ink head. It should point on one of the small images according to the state of the ink. The two left ones indicate an empty cartridge that needs to be replaced. Note: sometimes a cartridge you get with a new printer contains less ink then a newly purchased one. Third cause is that you got the wrong type of cartridge, or that they?re not inserted well. Were they changed just now? In any case the right type is: Black: HP 6615A Series or HP No. 15 Tri-Color: HP C6578 Series or HP No. 78 Hope it works out!
