Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others

Hi. I'm connecting an alligator clip to a banana plug (Deluxe Gold-plated Banana Plugs #2788204) via a 20 gauge solid hook up wire. No problem with the alligator clip, but how do I tie-in the wire to this type of banana plug? Thanks

Unscrew the insulated plastic cover off the back. There is usually a screw to loosen and wrap the wire under and retighten. Or lay the wire in the end and solder it.

Hello. i just bought denon poa2800. i usually use banana plugs for speaker connection.but these ports looks to wide and deep, not like regular banana ports. can i use regular banana plugs with it ?

OK, you can use banana plugs, but there is an easier way to connect speakers there. Remove wires from bananas, clean wires from insulation about 5mm (3/8"), unscrew black and red handles of speaker connectors in the back. Look carefully and will see holes in the shaft where you can plug in the wires (carefully with the colours) and by screwing in you tighten the cables.

How do I attach banana plugs to my receiver's binding posts?

Easiest would be to remove banana plugs on one end of wire and put eyelet on or wrap bare wire around the post and tighten nut and washer down onto it to secure it as in the older days of posts and wires.

Connecting Speakers to Marantz NR1402

HI,
You can use banana plugs to connect speakers to the speaker post. Connect the wire to the banana plug then insert the banana plug in the speaker post.

If you serch in google with the name speaker banana plug then you will get picture of different types.

You can buy this banana plugs in any nearby electronic spare part shop. They all stock this item. Normally comes in pair ( red, black)

I put banana clips on the wires and plugged them into the Insignia 200w audio receiver and everything sounds static tv and music

For temporary just for testing it ok.. but using banana clips permanently it not a good idear because due to excesive sound vibration it will create static for sure to avoid that you may have to souldering those wired in place to avoid that static and causing eventual damage inside your receiver... any conection as to be well connected special went it time to connect a large amps., beside a turn table, you may look for a good ground.... I suggest to put a solid ground wire also betwen your tv set and your receiver
for eventual hi static discharge., also make sure use a power bar for more protection ...good luck

Just clicks no power. Already checked for touching wires and proper cooling. This unit has worked fin in the same location for four years. Any other ideas?

I had a similar 'drop out' problem with my Yamaha RX-V3300.
Problem- Possibly loose speaker connections.
I have banana connections which I unplugged; tightened speaker terminal connections at back of receiver and then reinserted banana speaker connectors- which remedied problem. There is possibly some kind of loose connection either caused by the banana plugs or at speaker connectors at the back of the receiver, which was remedied (i.e. possibly temporarily) by reinserting the banana plugs.
I also previously thought something was wrong with the main on/off power relay which was 'dropping out' and replaced it, but then 'drop out' problem returned a few days later. I reinserted and tightened speaker connectors, which has it working again.

Pioneer VSX-815 speaker wiring

You can hook them up either way, the banana jacks are good for hooking two speakers to one terminal (ie one through the botton, one banana) but the electrical connection is the same either way. Sometimes the banana capable jacks are on speakers A and speakers B, and the surround don't accept banana plugs, your stuck with how your reciever is wired.

External speaker hook-up

Ok, after A LOT of internet research I could not find any solution. So I decided to do a "chop suey" connection.

Went to Radio Shack and bought ...
Insulated Grip 2-1/4"Alligator Clips w/screw terminals 10 (five red & five black)
(A smaller alligator clip can be used if you have a soldering iron to connect the wires.)

30-Ft. 18-Gauge Clear 2-Conductor Speaker Wire

It cost about $15 for everything. Be sure to have electrical tape as well.

Stripped speaker wires to fit through each alligator clip and twisted it around the screw terminals of clip. Tapped screw terminal to cover wiring. Do this for 2 black and 2 red clips.

To install l laid the TV on its back and insterted each alligator clip to firmly fit on each terminal. Because the clips are large it will be a tight next to each other. Be sure to test one line and speaker first before completed the second line and speaker.

GOOD LUCK!

Speakon cable to amp

Check the wire's insulation for ridges or striping; if the insulation is clear check the color of the wire inside. Then check the source of the wire to determine which polarity is connected to which wire. Once you know the polarity of the wires at the source, it should be easy to determine the polarity of the wire at the destination. The wire closest to the particular banana clip is most likely the one connected to it. If all else fails, you could use an OHM meter.
