  1. Work in a clean, dry, and dust free area

iPod mini - remove the top white plastic plate and the screws and retaining bracket beneath it with computer safe plastic pry tool and screw driver. Then slide the metal casing off, while placing light pressure on the center of the click wheel to disengage it from the casing. Slide the entire insides out of the casing, completely expose the inside of the ipod.
All other iPods, remove the upper half of the plastic cover using computer safe plastic pry tool to expose the inside of the ipod.
  2. Now that you have exposed the iPod's innards, you should see the LCD screen in it's bracket with a single cable connecting it to the mother board coming off one side. Unplug the old LCD screen and set it aside.
  3. Plug the new LCD screen in exactly where you unplugged the old screen and place the new screen carefully in its casing or frame.

*Now you can carefully plug in the iPod cable to test your work. If it is not working uplug the USB cable and check all your connections again, making sure the wiring is not twisting or pinched. Once you have checked and corrected the problem, retest it. (If it is still not working the LCD screen might not be your problem.)
  4. iPod mini - Carefully slide the iPod inside it's metal casinng, taking care to put gentle pressure on the click wheel to guide it into place. Then replace the retaining bracket and screws and replace the white plastic cover. Now you're done! Enjoy an iPod brought back to life.

All other iPods- simply align the top panel and snap it back into place, being careful not to pinch any cables - or your fingers!

Now you're done, and you have breathed new life back into your iPod for many more hours of fun watching and listening. Enjoy!
WARNING:
Make sure you purchase the exact screen you need. They can often be purchased online fairly inexpensively. Search around for the best deal you can get for your money.
  • Plastic tools specially designed for working on iPods can also be found for a few cents to a few dollars easily online.
  • Always work in a clean, dry, dust-free area
  • Always observe electrical safety precautions when working on electrical or computerized devices.
  • Remember that if your item is under warranty, working on it yourself may void the warranty, so if you have a pretty new iPod check with apple first to see if they will fix it for you for free under warranty!

It may be the type of file you're playing on it. See on my ipod, I was trying to play a episode of family guy. Sadly, the file was bad. I had to remove it off my ipod and find another place to download it from. That's what you may have to do

Try to connect it to your computer, open iTunes and Click Restore. You will lose all your music[if you're like me it's all still on the computer so no worries] but it should fix your problem.

How do i reset the password on my ipod

hold the menu button, connect it to your computer, let iTunes open up (keep holding it down)
there should be a message like 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode'...
don't let go of home until that message shows.

this resets your ipod and puts it into emergency recovery mode
just follow what it says, and you should be good to go

My ipod nano chromatic ha water damage from the washer

Sometimes if you leave it sit for several days or so it will dry out completely and start to work again. I don't recommend charging it or plugging it in for several days or so as if there is still water in it, it may fry some of the chips. It may be beyond repair though.
