Its a connection problem. Could be the connector is disenganging some connecting pin or contact inside. Bring it to a shop to rectify the problem or maybe some loss or broken screw/screwhole inside.

GO ON FACETIME GET BLACK SCREEN

Make sure that the camera is not being blocked by a screen protector or the case. Also, make sure you are connected to a fast internet connection. Usually, everything goes black when it is trying to establish a connection and start the video stream. If that does't work, try a hard reset by pressing the power button and home button together. Hold these buttons both down until the device shuts off.

My Imac crashes. 10.6.4, 2 GB ram, 2 GHz core duo. I've started with a clean install and disabled (one by one) all start up apps. Out of the clear blue, the screen will go black & I have to turn it...

When you say "screen goes black," does the computer power down, or is it still operating? Does the sleep light come on? Does it respond to the keyboard and mouse? (Example: press the power button momentarily, wait a few seconds for the "Do you really want to shut down" message to appear, even though you can't see it, then hit the return key to answer "OK," and see if it shuts down.) Does the screen go black or come out of black if you tap the computer?
While your computer is working, go to System Preferences / Desktop & Screen Saver, the Screen Saver tab, click Hot Corners, and set a corner of your screen to Put Display to Sleep. Then next time your screen goes black, mouse your way into that corner, pause a few seconds, then mouse back out and see if your screen returns.

Ah yes! you have pressed the display button. Turn the camera on and you see the icons in the display, look for the Disp button and press it, the display will cycle through its modes icons, black, image and icons.

I only get the opition f2 before my screen goes black, help t.y.

the only solution I can think of is to run a bootable live linux cd like ubuntuu and then try accessing your hard drive from in there. Files can be saved to another usb device like a usb key. May be too late though depending on how bad the hard drive is

Problem with Sony Vaio pcv-rx860 (screen goes black at startup)

I would suggest first to try to take one stick of memory out and try to boot up the pc. Sometimes, one or both of the memory sticks can go bad or the memory slot on the motherboard itself can go bad. If that is not the case I would then remove all of the usb connected to the computer and last i would test the power supply.

Hard drive message

Probably the hard-drive has gone bad.. First try a complete re-install of windows (you will lose all saved data on the hard-drive, so if you can, back up all important files first)..

If that doesn't work, you need to purchase a new hard-drive

Monitor problem: screen goes black, then comes in scrambled

It sounds like this one needs component-level troubleshooting, probably in the power supply section. One or more backlights may be going out, too.
