Question about Apple iPod touch
I have this error too! Hope Apple can solve this! I cannot connect to the internet with Safari too! May I must downgrade my software? I've wasted 600 yen for that ****!
I had the same problem where the "invalid argument" would pop up even though i thought the wifi was connected. None of these solutions worked so I was just playing around to see if anything would work. What finally did it for me was clicking on "other" when it asks what network you would like to join. I then typed in the name of my network and copied the "Wep key" off the back of my server. After joining my network this way it finally worked. Good luck

WOOH! ok ok ok, so! iv spent weeks looking through stuff like this, i thought the wifi on my itouch was bad.
I have a 2wire router and it says i was logged in but still the wifi didnt work
i used my "system password" and although it logged on it wouldnt work. but i tried the "wireless network key" (all written by the barcode on the router) and it worked perfectly.. sooo happy =)

This is ridiculous. whenever i try to open the app store it says 'invalid argument' and when i try to open safari the screen dims and it says connecting but it wont connect. Apple come on, please fix this. its been happening too long and ive stopped using my ipod. your going to lose a lot of money and customers if you dont fix this problem. dose this mean your ipad will have the same problem? looking forward to that...

Update itunes and update the firmware on your ipod. and no you didn't waste your precious yen... (more like $6 here) also the argument error is actually some problem with the software you downloaded...

Ok, now there are a lot of reasons concerning this problem, from manual input to system bugs, I'm sure that when you read this, you would have tried (and failed with)a LOTof methods from the above solutions and etc. so, now im gona say an alternative method. When the restore network ****, restore the entire ipodcrap, renew lease ****, deleting apps **** (and more) all else fails, its maybe ur WEP keyword that is wrong. what i mean is, you should input the hex password instead of ur usual wep router password or whatever it is. To PC users, you can know ur hex password through ur working (and connected to the router) computer. Just go to the connections page in ur (desktop manager i think?) and then look at the Properties tab of ur connect router signal. There should be yet another called "security" tab in it somewhere. Selected that and another window should pop up ( I think) Look at the network security key and tick the "Show characters" in ur admin mode, then u should see your hex password . type it in ur ipod connection password and pray for the best.
This worked for me (My pc is a win 7) (3rd gen ipod 3.1.3) goodluck

I had this problem but i have figured out how to fix it. Go into settings, the tap on wifi, then double tap the blue arrow on your chosen network. Now in the IP adress field you need to change it so it begins with 192 eg.18.104.22.168. Now scroll down and tap renew lease and that should fix it.

This should work. Open up iTunes library & connect the USB to the computer. Hold don the power switch & silde the red arrow to turn off the iPod. Hold down the Home button while attaching the USB to the iPod. Keep holding it down until you see on the iPod screen a USB pointing towards iTunes. Now click to restore the iPod on iTunes...Worked for me

OHHHH... So simple. I performed each one of the "solutions". It came down to unplugging my wireless router, letting it reset, plugged it back in... Whammooo. All is good. Try this simple method first. Save yourself a load of frustration.

None of the solutions above helped. My setup is a combo modem/router and a separate wireless access point plugged into the router. The access point was 8-10 years old and started to fail, so I bought a new one. Now my problems are solved. For those of you who can update the firmware on you access points or replace it, this may solve your problem.
