Question about Toshiba CF32G50 32" TV

2 Answers

Toshiba Color Television CF32G50

This TV was made May 1998.

It turns on and has sound. There is no picture. What can be the problem?

I'm not a tech but would it cost a lot to get it fixed? Or should I just get rid of it?

Thanks!
Rob

Sound but no picture

This could be a problem in the vertical sweep circuit, as when the vertical circuit fails, The video or screen will blank out so the picture tubes do not get damaged. In this chassis, I have seen the convergence IC's cause this, or the capacitor in the sweep power supply that feeds the voltage to the vertical IC has failed and blew out the vertical output IC. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in a trained tech to assist you in this repair. Good Luck.

There was a slight squealing and then a loud pop and now no picture. We have sound but no picture. Toshiba 65" rear projection set.

Sound like the color wheel exploded. When this happens the tv will not let it turn on, now for the real bad news,,,, Toshiba does not supply just the color wheel, you will have to replace the entire light engine for around $450.00 to $650.00

Toshiba CF32G50 32" TV - wont turn to channel 3

try entering the channel directly via the remote by pressin"03" if that fails check to see if your cable box has a 3/4 switch on the back. if so set it to 4.
The main problem however, is that the TV needs to have the channels reprogrammed by following the instruction manual and/or on screen menu.

I think you have a vertical problem. Turn up screen voltage to see if there is a tin horizontal line across screen. If so replace vertical output IC and the 100uf/35v capacitor in the vertical circuit.
