Hi,

To install just extract the zip file on your computer. Remember the location. Open up Desktop Manager and click on Application Loader. Under Add/Remove Applications press Start. When the screen comes up with all the apps on your device, select Browse and navigate to the folder you extracted from the zip. Choose the BlackBerryMessenger.alx and click next. Then just wait for the phone to reboot and walla, the brand new BBM 4.7.151

Good Luck.

I am guessing it's an OS from a different phone service.

You need to delete the vendor xml file to install it:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\VENDOR.XML first

Delete (or rename is you prefer) vendor.xml and then try installing.

Hope this helps,
Bill

Why won't my blackberry torch turn on completely?

This may be due to the following reasons:
1. The battery may be down. Recharge.
2. Your firmware(Blackberry OS) may be corrupt due to some physical or software problem.. Try to Update it.
3. Some lastly installed software/app may be causing any problems.. Try to Restore device settings from backup..
4. The last installation may require device rebooting and it is nmt able to do that...

My phone will not let me call out or recieve calls and a white screen keeps showing up saying app error 523 and under that says reset. i do not want to reset my phone what do i do

well though you didn't mention the brand and model of your phone, from my experience, that app error 523 is common in blackberries. i will go ahead and direct you to a known fix for that.
1 is your try to perform a hard reset. if no luck,'

First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.7 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

First download the OS on your device and carrier from here
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found in here:

If the above doesn't work you can reload the OS in one of the following ways

try doing a battery pull if that doesnt work you'll want to run the application loader. i found steps on www.tmobile.com/forumsIf the LCD screen is white, blank or empty, a soft reset may need to be performed, or there may be an error with the display drivers and the OS will need to be re-loaded onto the device. Please follow these steps:

  1. Remove the battery from the device.
  2. Wait 15 seconds, then replace the battery in the device.
  3. Turn the phone back on.
  4. If the screen is no longer white and functions correctly, the issue is resolved.
  5. If the screen is still white, continue troubleshooting.
  6. Confirm BlackBerry Desktop Manager has been downloaded to the computer.
If BlackBerry Destop Manger is installed, skip to step 2. If not,

  1. Install Desktop Manager
  2. Backup your information using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager (recommended).
  3. Download and install the blackberry handheld software to your computer.
Note: Running the Application Loader will take approximately 15-60 minutes to complete.

***ALTHOUGH THESE STEPS ARE FOR THE BLACKBERRY 9700 BOLD BY TMOBILE, THE PHONE MODEL IS THE EXACT SAME AS THE BLACKBERRY 9000 TOUR, OR BOLD THROUGH AT&T****

My friends blackberry (telus) phone shows error 523 , when opened , underneath error 523 says reset .. what do we do to correct this ,, is this phone now useless?

What device OS do you have installed? Is it up to date?

What happened just before this cycle started? An update? A new Theme? A new App? The tiniest thing could be causal.

It may be that only a full device OS reload will cure the problem...and unless you already have a good backup, there will likely be no way for you to take a backup now (the backup process itself requires a stable BB). Here is a good article that might provide guidance:

Phone shutting off by itself

1. Check your phone battery. Charge it full, if required!

2. If its virus infected, then try to scan it with a Mobile Antivirus Scanner!

3. If none of the above helps, then the problem is with the phone OS / Firmware. Try to update it to resolve the problem!

please rate this advice if it helps...tc! :)

My blackberry 8100 is being switched off while charging.

Is it a new phone? If it's less then a month old see if you can return it, otherwise you can try reloading the OS.

So if you're willing to try that, do the following.

First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.6 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Next you can use the Backup and Restore feature present in the software to make a backup of all the data on your phone.

Next download and install the handheld software from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found here:

Boostberry 7100i problem...

. Download and install the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your Windows PC. Get it from:
https://www.blackberry.com/Download...B93E4F3BB068C22
I'm using version Version 4.6 and I recommend you do the same although I believe any version 4.1 or greater will work.

2.
Download and install BlackBerry OS 4.1.0.534 on your Windows PC from:https://www.blackberry.com/Software...lient=biTZdMddN
This is a critical step that people tend to skip. You must have the OS installed on your PC in order for the Desktop Manager to work correctly and be able to reinstall the browser.

3. Download the service books
from here:
http://wapreview.com/download/MMS_WiFiBrowser.zip
Unzip the contained file, MMS_WiFiBrowser.ipd. into a folder where you will be able to find it

4. Plug in your phone to a USB port and start the BlackBerryDesktop Manager. If it says it needs to upgrade the phone's OS, let it.

If it doesn't say it needs to update go into Application Loader > Add Remove Applications. Again, if it says it needs to upgrade the phone's OS, let it.

The upgrade can take up to an hour so don't panic if it seems hung, just let it finish.

4. On you BlackBerry, close all open apps and delete the Browser (even if you don't see a browser in the menu!) by going to Options>Advanced Options>Applications>Browser, press the scroll wheel and choose delete, confirm the deletion and the option to reboot your phone now.

5. When the phone restarts, go to Options -> Advanced Options ->
Service Books hold Alt and hit {A/S}{A/S}{B/N}{E/R}{B/N} (for full QWERTY phones it's Alt + {S}{B}{E}{B}).
A message reading "Legacy SB Restore Enabled" will appear if you did this correctly.

6. Connect your phone to the PC again. In Desktop Manager choose "Backup and Restore" , then "Restore", then browse to and select the MMS_WiFiBrowser.ipd file that you downloaded in step 3.

7. After installing the
service books, click Main Menu, then Application Loader > Add / Remove Applications. Check the empty boxes next to the Browser, JavaScript and Help to reinstall them.

8. After the phone restarts you should have a working HotSpot Browser icon and there should be a working MMS option for each entry in your address book and a Compose MMS option in the Messages app.

Gmail, Opera Mini and many other third party data aware apps will also work with this set up.

BlackBerry Mail and the IM apps from BlackBerry will still not work.
